  1. I am needing to visit an eye specialist and was wondering why over recent weeks my eyesight has worsened. After careful thought I am confident its the new TAB website being the cause. There is a reason only a limited number of fonts and type faces are popular on the web. However the TAB have chosen a rather obscure type and of top of that prevented the user increasing the proportional size. Some of the letters and numbers when viewed by someone with less than 100% eyesight are confusing requiring squinting and straining to view,. I think Black Kirrama has pointed it out so I'm not alone.

    Stay Strong Christchurch

Hi Racecafe folk. Just to say thanks for the many kind thoughts expressed to the people of Christchurch. Personally and as a family it hit hard as I am a teacher at the school that lost 2 current students and 1 ex student. Other students lost family members. Today was very tough but we got through with the love and support of those around us.. My wife is a nurse at Christchurch Public and was on duty when the victims were coming in. She went on duty just after 2.00pm as did many others and I picked her up at 12.20am Saturday morning totally shattered. I know people can and do make comments abo

    Stay Strong Christchurch

Thank you so much for your kind words. I backed a different runner in the last election race but have to totally agree with you re Jacinda Ardern. She has been very strong in the face of an unprecedented event in this country's history.

  6. I have bombarded the Help Desk and The bloke Des had on Radio. Emails, and Phone calls. Not one reply. Used my full registered name/ TAB account number etc. Not a whisper.... THE FONT is disgusting. I am aware of 23 people who have opened Aussie accounts since the new site opened. I will PM you some further thoughts. One of the many " Needs to Happen Yesterday points is no 50c each way option. Another point is When you build a house there are progress payments and final settlement withhold options until the Purchaser is satisfied the contract has been fulfilled.

  7. A lot of the small fields are a result of administrative incompetence rather than a shortage of horses. Everytime you programme seven races rather than ten races you are eliminating dozens of horses who don't have a suitable race. Trainers looking for a 65 1,200m don't suddenly say "oh well, we will just race in the 82 1,600m instead". The reason there was no SI representation in the Derby or Oaks is because there hasn't been a 3yo race in the SI further than 1,600m this season, and only one over 1,600m since Cup Week. These are certainly trying times for Racing around the world, but a lo

Thank you for sharing yes the time for little back biting and nit picking is not now we all need to come together as a people as humans and support each and everyone of us, this is NZ not some redneck backwater...please lets just let people see the good there is in all of us...cheers... I really hope your wife can get through this and please thank her so much for the great job she did in unbelievably tough circumstances... stay strong everyone. I also think Jacinda has shown strong leadership, great communication and has been open and honest that things need to change... I think she deser

  9. Notice the results page on the new webshite couldn't cope with the Flemington dead heaters , could only display 1 win dividend - absolutely farked this new webshite. Add in the colour on colour graphics, the similar similar numbers and I concur , my eyes have definitely deteriorated over the last 2 months, could it be the new site ??

  10. From my experience with them I have been staggered beyond belief by the arrogance and incompetence exhibited in their customer relations. I cannot think of another organisation in NZ, not even AirNZ, that treats their customers so badly. My bank leaves them for dead. Of course banks have competition. Perhaps the TAB doesn't realise they have competition, and also their customers have the option of just not bothering. It is easy enough to get out of the habit of betting. It is time some action was taken about an organisation that has gone totally rogue. In any other industry the stakeholde

  11. Code distributions are based on domestic share of turnover. If fewer meetings (with higher stakes) mean larger fields, and larger fields mean more turnover per race, you could potentially increase thoroughbred turnover (and therefore code share of total turnover) by running fewer meetings.

Geez this dog has been dissapointing. Had run some fast times in Australia and Rosanowski and Fenemor were talking about him being a group 1 dog. Looks like he can't even run 318 let alone 375 or 457.

  14. No sympathy for him if repetitive behaviour but I can think of others who are just as bad if not worse and they get a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket. If you are going to come down hard be the same with EVERYONE no exceptions!!

  16. Less than a month ago he was fined 500 for breaking the excellent whip rules which HRNZ brought in. He can be given no sympathy for repetitive behaviour and given the number of drives he gets im not sure its over the top in terms of his 3 month suspension

  18. The politics and economics of climate change by Suze Credit: SonovaMin Kids taking a day off school to protest climate change indicates the extent of political pressure in the classroom and the unscientific view of climate being drummed into children’s heads. Here’s what the Maori climate change commissioner, Donna Awatere-Huata, said on the AM show after she endorsed children’s wagging school to protest climate change. Quote. We can do without a Maori climate change commissioner

  19. Poundforpound I hold a similar view of the NZTR that you do. If reducing the number of meetings means a reduction of money to thoroughbred racing via the distribution system then that "formula" needs to be addressed at the same time. I do not pretend to understand the fine details of the funding system but racing is competing for a relatively finite discretionary / entertainment income pool. With a vastly increased number of options for people to spend that money on ( compared to say 30 - 40 years ago) then racing has to make sure it presents as a very good option. I happen to believ

  22. I think it is confirmation that there are too many meetings in NZ. Compared to the days when racing was only held on Saturdays and Wednesdays (outside of the Xmas / New Year period) there are probably less horses racing now so does it make sense to have so many meetings?

    2019 new stallions

Depends if you own a mare. Not serving a broodmare you own them devalues them anyway as well as the rest of the family. Better serving them with cheaper stallion with upside than not serving them at all! Getting the progeny of a mare a chance out on the race track is important. If you don't want to risk $15,000 service fee there is a range to choose between $4,000 and $10,000. Ask nicely and if you have a well bred mare and they even give you a discount!!!

  26. Looking at the style sheets for the website the main fonts seem to be Rajdhani, Teko, Roboto and something described as TAB-UI-Font. I presume UI stands for user interface. Anyway the first two were designed by indiantypefoundry.com which suggests to me whoever is fiddling with the website resides in India or is Indian. The question is how much of the website is of Indian origin and the reason I ask I doubt horse racing has a high profile in India hence explaining those developing the website unfamiliar with racehorse wagering.
