Ruakaka gone , obviously far too much hard work for B Saundry to get this meeting xfered to somewhere south of Auckland . Yet again he shows scant regard for the owners/ trainers and jockeys who are the backbone of this industry . But it's OK , Bernard still get's his full pay packet for his lack of effort .

Technically I suppose no horses, trainers or jockeys, or commentators etc are allowed to travel through Auckland to get there.

Maybe the commentator from Fiji could row in from the islands,at least that's one obstacle overcome.

Ruakaka could have & should have gone ahead.

During original lockdowns those who traveled for work had & carried in their vehicles a printed certificate with their occupation/ business name on them if they were in Pharmacy etc.

How hard is it for the Heads of the Racing industry to do the same so people can travel to & from workplaces to undertake work when they are healthy & able to?

Do people within the Racing Industry have Licences that they still carry with them in some shape or form that qualifies them to undertake work in the industry?

Why can't they simply carry them to travel about ther country?

Whilst you are at it, look up the history of Americold, influenza- who is the company where they are perceived to have had a Coronavirus/ Covid19 outbreak in Auckland.

They naturally have staff who have respiratory problems brought on through the  use of chemicals, there's also history of past coronavirus/ pandemic scares worth while reading to put things into proportion.

Commonsense goes a long way in life.

It's apparent that Director of Health & scientific advisors to this Gvt are clueless about factoring into account workplace & geographical environmental issues that a General Practitioner who examines patients & swears a Hippocratic Oath adheres to & gets to know their patient & circumstances well when one shows any of the 4 basic "symptoms" used to guess Coronavirus/ Covid 19.

Whack-a-mole won't stop the spread of any contagious diseases.

Racing needs to stick up for itself & stand up to the nonsense grandstanding b/s spun by academics that gets repeated by the Gvt.

It wasn't that long ago Academics, including the likes of Shaun HENDY who is fixated on his #NOFLYING project, &  telling us they wanted us lockdown for 2 years.

Paper Trail is all there folks.

They don't give a fig about anyone but their own pockets with Taxpayers monies.

Why not travel by Rocket lab rocket?

They are in our back yard 🚀

Do you remember when a bus load or boat load of patrons traveled to Ruakaka races & from one part of the country to another?

Or by train?

I'm sure Trevor Mckee, Norm Holland & other late greats would have something to  say about the current situation to sort it out.

MEETING NEWS

Transit of Racehorses based in the Auckland Region

NZTR has considered the situation for trainers based north of the Auckland and Waikato boundary wishing to trial or race their horses in the Waikato or beyond, subject to the government COVID-19 Alert Levels that are in place as at 13 August 2020.

Whilst the present government legislation generally prohibits persons leaving the Auckland super-city region and entering the Waikato, an exemption is provided to transport and logistics services.

Therefore, NZTR advises that trainers with horses stabled north of the Auckland and Waikato boundary can nominate for trial or races in the Waikato or beyond, provided that:

  1. the horse and its associated gear is transported to and return from the meeting by an independent horse freight company, loaded and unloaded in compliance with the freight company’s COVID-19 protocols; and
  2. the horse is not accompanied by the trainer or other stable staff; and
  3. the trainer must notify the RIU the name of the licenced Trainer or Stablehand who will be responsible for the horse when at the race or trial meeting.

NZTR understands that these requirements are not as simple as would be desired, but does provide the necessary certainty to enable nominations.

Keep up the pressure folks, and that includes NZTR to the Gvt/ Politicians.

Remember we as an industry should be working together & show initiative to reduce dependency on the Gvt, or should that be World Bank that we all now owe money to, bc of the massive loans Grant Robertson is ultimately responsible for helping to generate as Finance Minister.

We are all entitled to be free from the Gvt to survive,  earn an income & have peaceful enjoyment as we go about our lives.

Any Licenced person, and those with an interest in Racing should be free to go about their lives wherever they are as long as they don't have "symptoms" of Coronavirus.

Read the & comprehend the Spirit & Intent of the Public Health Act along with other common laws.

All the best.

Why shouldn't they travel?

So long as they don't have "symptoms" they are within their lawful rights to go about their lives peacefully.

Who is allowed to attend at Waverley  tomorrow ?

Everyone who doesn't have symptoms of an infectious disease!!

Read The NZ Law Society's submissions in the Andrew Borrowdale Judicial Review.

There's plenty of holes in sieves - just ask those within the legal fraternity who are involved in Horse Racing, there's plenty within the industry who I'm sure will be on our side...

Remember Miss Ardern has said recently what she's telling us are "Guidelines". It's also now in the aforementioned Court submission documents that Dr Ashley Bloomfield has said the same.

So why are healthy people not going about their lawful lives in peace & quiet free from lockdown Politicians & the Director General of Health grandstanding???

Don’t like being alarmist but I would think that after midnight tomorrow there won’t be any racing in the North Island for weeks if not months.

I'd be confident it won't be as bad as that , they are racing in Europe, USA  and Australia , and decent racing at that , why would we need to shut ourselves away again ?

Perhaps we should all line up for compensation , many of us had to turn horses out the first time we were locked down and it might happen again . Given the level of incompetence by the government we are now all victims .

Newshub can reveal that just one week before our current community outbreak, 63.5 percent of all border and hotel isolation workers in Auckland had never been tested for COVID-19. .

The Prime Minister says all staff will now face compulsory tests, but a public health expert says it beggars belief this wasn’t already happening.

They’re part of our most high-risk group: airport staff like Customs and Immigration, hotel workers like security.

All work in the vicinity of recent returnees, yet only a fraction had been tested prior to this outbreak.

@gubellini, why shouldn't there be racing?

Why should the whole wider community be locked down 👇 when it's very limited spread of an illness that has reverted to been called Coronavirus & not Covid19 in the UK?

We live in NZ & it's time those calling the shots, including PM Ardern & Dr Ashley Bloomfield stopped relying on flawed Scientific research undertaken by Public Health Advisors comparing Covid19/ Coronavirus in NZ to be the same as the spread of infectious diseases EBOLA & TUBERCULOSIS in places like Sth Africa & India which either don't exist or are very rare in New Zealand.

Join the dots whose Scientific Research has been rubber stamped by the current Gvt & it's advisors to that of China & the UK.

Such flawed methodologies & the rapid spread of those infectious disease comparisons in the aforementioned countries are NOT relevant to New Zealand's population or general health standards or our current situation.

13 people is diddly squat when we have a population of 6 million NZ people. Read previous post & find the Law Society's submission, read it & comprehend it.

 Best

@tripple alliance

Why hasn't the Current Gvt & those assigned Duty of Care on "air & sea carriages" not been ensuring those who are unwell or have Medical conditions not been reported to Crew or the Captain of these carriages prior to arrival & disembarking as per Legislation?

That way they are either deported back to where they originate from, not all are New Zealand people by birth but migrants from places with standards of living & healthcare well below that of NZ, and those who don't have Medical conditions can go home & go about their lawful lives free of "compulsory carry on" along with the rest of us who should not be subjected to any of the propaganda we are.

Realistically a country cannot shut down every small outbreak and in  world terms it's minor here  , I am no scientist but it needs management to control , treatment for the sick , protection for the vulnerable and the rest need to get on with it trying best to follow hygiene and infection  control, I've no death wish but I cannot see a future for this country if we close down again all shut our doors and hide .
