I know but I like to indulge him so he can still feel relevant . There is no hard and fast rules when it comes to the selling of horses . I've known people who have re homed horses and have said the person can have the horse but no racing papers . You own the horse you can state the conditions .

I'm sure in the case of a mare of that quality they can put that condition and make it clear that any prospective buyer must sign that waver . She's not a one race winner , exceptional circumstance .

Agreed. Probably 80 horses entered including eleven in the maiden 2yo event. I counted roughly twenty first starters throughout the programme so it appears trainers AREN'T entirely averse to running on the synthetic. -

Mmmmm ! one's Pennyweka , the other's Imperatriz . One I might risk trying again the other one definitely not . Saying that , it really all comes down to what each horses issue was , and whether each set of owners puts a caveat on the sale .

Well that's probably true but Pennyweka was retired because of medical issues that were then found to have cleared up and she was put back into training.

I would think that she has an issue that under the duress of training and racing could become a major issue and maybe a life risk , just supposition . I don't believe they would have retired her if it was something that a bit of time would fix properly , she's too valuable as a broodmare to risk .

I would have thought that a smart business has someone training under the handicapper , or did they think he was just another one that would hang around for ever taking his salary . Think they call it succession planning , OH that's right we are talking NZTR .

I thought I read somewhere that the 'breeding proposition only' statement is actually unenforceable.

He's stating exactly what was reported by NZTR. To date, they can't find anyone to fill the position and there is apparently no-one in the current team who can step in while they continue to search for a suitable person to fill the role. And the positive is that we have someone like Bruce to step in, setting aside other key roles at NZTR and his own racing interests to do so. I think you are being the negative one here Scooby.
