West Tip was another great National horse from mid to late 80s , saw him at Sandown in one of his first Novice Chases in Dec 83 , the same day Desert Orchid ran in Novice Hurdle . West Tip had a massive scar on his hindquarters where a lorry had taken him out a few years before and he only just survived .One tough bugger that horse .

Backed Lucky Vane many times in the staying chases , good West Country stayer . Hello Dandy lived to 33 years old . Second in 1984 was Greasepaint , IMHO the 2nd best National horse in my lifetime , 2nd 2nd 3rd 4th 10th , how he got over those fences in those days without getting into trouble is immense , what a horse . 150 biggest fences there are without falling or running up backside of another runner .

Have you come across the splendid article on the GRNZ website Home page. "The Duke's Incredible Link to NZ Greyhound Racing" - .put together by Michael Dore with input from Mark Rosanowski/and the late Sam Fletcher's book. A must-read Quite remarkable. Two photos as well. The Duke's words when Royal Commission won the Silver Collar are very special. Check them out. I had noted on Facebook a photo of one of the Duke's greyhounds in England and winner of many races, including some biggies.

I was at the 2011 race when Tiumen completed his hat-trick. Getting back to Aintree and the English Grand National. I attended the 1984 race (winner Hallo Dandy). I was living in Scotland at the time and on a whim, drove down to Liverpool that morning to attend the race. Back then you could walk the course (at least the area in front of the stands) prior to racing. Got to see "The Chair" up close, wish I had pictures of it. Yeah, the fences were much different back then, much stiffer. And the core of the fence at Beachers Brook was diabolical. Quite a crowd that day, we were packed in like sardines, but still had decent viewing from the stands. I had 40 quid each was on Lucky Vane at 16-1, who fortunately got up for 4th a few jumps from the line. It was great to have the opportunity to attend and experience "the National" first hand.

I've been to Pardubice for the Velka Pardubika. The 4th obstacle, the Taxis, is a beast. Good thing they only jump it once and early in the race. It always claims a couple of horses. I walked the course a couple of days after the race and stood in the ditch on the landing side of the Taxis fence. I felt like a dwarf. I've attached the photo, by the way, I've 5'10" (178 centimeters).

Can't blame Ardern for this but there is a public notice being shown on our TV screens regarding the ratings of cars in accidents. The car they show has a one star rating and suffers major damage that would presumably leave people in the car dead or badly injured. The odd thing is that the Govt department Waka Kotaki must have let them in because they are the Ministry of Transport. Easy solution, don't let vehicles with 1 star ratings in or is that too easy. -

Your welcome Jape. All I did was copy & paste the link from the website that was posted in 1 of the greyhound groups I'm in -
Thank you, Gary.. Curiously, the article in my SST has a photo of 3 dogs together chasing hard. Cheers

Im over these Pricks going on about so called Herd Immunity😆 When a Politician tells the flock these vaccines are safe and effective why would people believe them 😳 The potion is only being trialled as a therapeutic to reduce illness, you still carry and as a result spread so what exactly are they achieving? Touted as 95% efficious ( not effective) with a disease that doesn’t effect 95% of the populous 🤣 There are other therapeutics that are not experimental out there, how exactly are they treating patients overseas and why are our Borders continually getting so called positive cases with ZERO disease.... surely someone has to die here of the most deadly contagious disease seen since a real pandemic in 1920 ... 50 million Dead . Insanity

I can never understand why politicians tell so many lies, and when they are confronted about this tell another big lie by saying they never lied!

Well done getting a result. I succumbed to the old adage of " never change your bet " (or return a ticket incorrectly generated by an operator?) but I'm more than happy for Hideki getting there by not carrying me. Winning the Masters the ultimate in my book, followed by The Open.
