Sad news to learn she is injured and out of her grand final. Bone Chips requiring surgery. Praying she makes a full recovery and we see her again winning in the autumn. Future Champion. -

They have to try to squeeze a replacement meeting in somewhere. It is only 5 weeks out from Cup Week and Southland hasn't started yet. Without Southland horses and with northerners less keen to travel as they have so many opportunities closer to home Cup Week will struggle for numbers. -

Bruce said that within the next week the industry would see the progress they had made in their negotiations with Avondale. Is this it? A NON-BINDING, undisclosed MOU has been signed? What the hell does that indicate to the industry about any progress? He has to be kidding. -

Yes, I grew up on Syd Tonks as well Charlie. Peter Kelly and Doug Ahern were 2 others but I don't think they called the trots? Pity there aren't older NZ gallops and trots on YouTube, especially from the 70s and 80s. I know Ian Grant has a whole YouTube channel of NZ trotting races from the 1960s up to the 1980s, but as far as Syd Tonks goes, this is the only race commentary of his I've found, and yes, it's That race, the 1977 Easter Handicap.
