Are you in Napier for Art Deco Weekend Stodge?

I’ve been in the Bay since early December apart from a fortnight on the West Coast.

Heading back to Blighty on Thursday where the first task will be to get a handle on the Cheltenham form.

I would expect so, that was a huge win and she did it on her ear.  You can only beat whatever is in the race, and she showed that she was well above them and was just there to see who took her on,and she said this is my race.  She can handle any track and is such a free runner.  She deserves the chance, no matter what the outcome :)

Agree ...and she ran a decent time as well. Haven't seen the sectionals yet but a near-nine-length win in sub 1:22 means that Ozzie Kheir and others will be taking notice

Since there in an announcement today at 8pm re the Barneswood Farm/Nahkle one i wonder if Pivotal Ten, would be the logical slot for the owners to reach out to negotiate a deal? other than CJC.

soon we will loose the Guinea’s races and that’s Cup Week goneburger.

They have tried that on before, but the threat of injunctions saw a back down.

Interesting point Flash. If anything this year's results, and this year's events, might actually help Canterbury's case.

The Guineas winners this season are arguably the top filly and colt in the country, even if the filly was well beaten in Aussie on Saturday. If the two of them do well over the next few weeks in Aussie that could help the status of the Guineas as they are currently placed. None of the 3yos that stayed away from Riccarton have gone on to show they are superior horses because they bypassed the SI.

We have also seen the results of several other major races being transferred around the NI. The HB meeting transferred to Te Rapa ended up with an appalling crowd at Te Rapa. totally overshadowed by the phantom race-meeting in Hastings.

This weekend will be interesting. The transferred Otaki Group 1, held alongside the two Avondale features at Ellerslie, would be expected to do a significantly superior turnover to a low key meeting at Otaki.

You do get the feeling that the north is becoming saturated with feature races and there is a general lack of interest. It would be embarrassing for the industry if the two Guineas races are transferred north and are conducted in front of small crowds with no atmosphere.

Beaten 3l on a track that clearly didn't suit though.

Blowhard, as in opinionated, certainly. Still a top bloke imo. Ever meet the man or do business with him Neil?

No, many years ago it was brought to my attention defamatory things about me on the other site, where blowhards x 3 took it upon themselves to disrespect others who put in.

I thought that he was contemptible and was very angry. It is a good thing we haven't met. Top bloke my ass!

No slot for PT as yet

The Barneswood Brady Nakhle Slot Holder partnership has announced the Stephen Marsh-trained Penman (NZ)

Would love to be a fly on the wall when the deals have been done between slot holders and owners.  The Te Akau one would be especially interesting with Damask Rose managed by Mrs Ellis but actually owned by a syndicate including several Entain executives.  Wonder if they had a say on the split?

Managed to duck into the TAB in Napier to watch the Southland Guineas. PIVOTAL TEN was extremely good though not sure what she beat.

Beating any field nearly nine lengths is noteworthy - where does she go from here? Surely she’ll have to go into some deeper waters somewhere but my ignorance of the New Zealand pattern prevents me offering any meaningful suggestions,

At Matamata, not sure what to make of RETURN TO CONQUER in the Slipper. To me, he’s crying out for further but the stable mate ran a huge race in second and has come on a ton for the Wanganui debut run.

LEGARTO was huge in the Champagne - a seriously class act and presumably this was a warm up for some big autumn targets. LA DORADA followed up her Karaka Millions win with a front running performance in which the first two dominated but with three of the field missing the start I’m not sure of the value of the form.

Finally, a quick word for Kevin Stott and another fine ride to win the last on DESERT MYSTIC.

It's not a matter of who she beat,it's the times she has been running.Faster than Legarto and Fangirl by a second or two ,all racing on track with same footing.

She has been running times all season

And doing it on her ear, imagine if she was pushed

Whilst she is definitely quick are we absolutely sure that the distances covered were all the same and for that matter track readings the same?

Someone wiser than me on Ascot Park suggested that there may be issues re actual race distances

Carried top weight of 59.5kg - 3.5kg more than the winner.

Easily beat the Caulfield 1000 Guineas winner home.

So, it still never won...so neither of them run well.

She may not have been pushed by another horse but she was ridden  hard to the line including getting two good clips with the whip.

You are nothing but a dick...how is two taps being ridden hard to the line...sorry you are really a waste of space.

You say taps, someone else says two good clips, either way when the anti-race and animal lovers get hold of it it's perception - the perception that the horse is being whipped. Same thing happened in harness racing. Hitting the shafts with the whip still gives the perception of whipping the horse. You know and I know that's not the case but the general uninitiated public see it differently. In this case, why was it neccessary to take her whip hand off the reins at all?             Bloody hard to fight against when push comes to shove.

I know one thing for sure she was not hard ridden to the line as some poster mentioned above...he does not know the difference obviously.
