Kranji went from Fibresand to Polytrack in 2008 , what years was your observation from because Fibresand is old tech only now used at Southwell in UK . Watch a race from Southwell then watch a Kempton, Chantilly or Lingfield on poly , it just looks totally different. Southwell just looks rough . Huey 2,037 Report post Posted May 21, 2020 Do I understand this correctly? No racing at Te Teko, not sure if any horses trained there either, the club don't want to race anywhere else, they are getting together to decide what to do with the asset, it'll be lost as a trials venue (no matter what you think of AWT) , where is the benefit for NZracing out of all of this? Wouldn't you be better to let those who supply the product decide whether they want to race/Trial there or not. https://thebeacon.co.nz/2020/05/racing-off-at-te-teko/ nomates and Baz (NZ) 1

Huey 2,037 Report post Posted May 25, 2020 https://loveracing.nz/News/30333/BernardsBriefing-22May.aspx Avondale will potentially have the richest races in the country when they sell up and move to Ellerslie, I'm sure they'll love that! TurnyTom 1,543 Report post Posted May 25, 2020 I would have thought the feeling between Arc and Avondale would stop any discussion Ruakaka could be the go for mine

Sand based, never gets really wet because of good drainage. Don’t know why they don’t use it more...a hike to get to for some, and local trainers certainly have an advantage, but good track nevertheless. Trump 2,741 Report post Posted May 25, 2020 ARC don’t “need” Avondale. As for Avondale going to Whangarei - that sort of move would be par for the course with Avondale wouldn’t it? At least the facilities at Ruakaka would be a big improvement and the Avondale Members would have a nice country drive to go to their race meeting rather than an Uber to Ellerslie. Agree Dave but potentially a new major training centre, the simple fact is no one goes to Ellerslie it is a white elephant having fucked up tradition, Derby Day Auckland Cup day etc, so it will never happen at Ellerslie, Ruakaka has immense appeal, just gotta think differently The Avondale Club is very smart and there is no way Arc is on their agenda Ellerslie can have zilliions in the bank but they get no one attending, it is a joke to suggest they are a flagship as they aint Gruff, Insider, nomates and 1 other

But ARC does still hold 5 of NZ's top 10 days as far as turnover concerned. Plus it has the Great Northern which is still a great race on a pretty good course ! And it averaged 3,000 folk per meeting over 19 meetings ....not bad. Decrease in oncourse attendees no worse than other tracks ! The top trainers seem to still rank it #1. And the public facilities would be right up there with best in NZ. Brilliant new stables area and good viewing . Unsure what upsets you about the place. Have you been to Ellerslie lately ? What courses round out the top 5 in NZ ? Baz (NZ)

TurnyTom 1,543 Report post Posted May 25, 2020 Much smarter than Arc Trumpy, much smarter Arc get 300 on course for their Premier meeting -, they are real good with a population of 1mil - that's a success story

TurnyTom 1,543 Report post Posted May 25, 2020 No inside info Stables just an off the wall thought, don't need an AWT we have one at Ruakaka there is 20 mil saved No cancellations, nice locality just needs an upgrade Plenty of room to accommodate 300 plus horses in work Just a thought Huey
