nomates 3,622 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 1st time poster , just felt I had to stick up for the big grey "ONE POUND STERLING" , a bit rough calling him a two horse wonder , looked after "OP" for a couple of seasons at Evergreen Lodge and whilst I was there he won the Australasian Sires Premiership knocking none other than the mighty Sir Tristram off the top , whom had won previous couple of seasons . Brilliant horse to look after , most intelligent stallion I looked after , real character . biff, Memphis2, elbow and 6 others

Perhaps not, Yir Tiz - Regal Band was a good one indeed. Banderol was actually her son! So not by Bandmaster at all. He was actually in our yearling draft when I worked at Haunui years ago. In my defence, I DID say Bandmaster was perhaps a 'two-hit wonder'! [ although even Regal Band was nowhere near as good as Uncle Remus. ]

Lloyd Vivian 742 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Yes, No mates, I was probably a bit too harsh on One Pound Sterling. I forgot Castletown completely. However, I think you're a bit mistaken about him being Champion Australasian Sire, defeating Sir T! Don't recall him even being Champion NZ Sire, let alone Australasian Champion. What year was that? Back to the subject though Don Couchman had a horse called Renoir that was by Creagh en Sgor from memory, Don was convinced it would be a huge star but was dogged by unsoundness...Don was a very very good judge of a horse though.
