Pairs comp - Seeding round - entry thread

If you didn't register on the other thread you are still welcome to enter.

We're kicking off this weekend with a seeding round.  Where you finish this week will decide who you are paired with and which group you will be in - see post below for more detail.  Dollars earned will also count towards the best aggregate over the course of the comp.

For this week all you have to do is as follows:

1.  Either pick two horses in each race - you will have $10 each way on both and a $2 quinella; or if you'd prefer to pick just one horse in any (or all of the races) you can do that and you will have $20 each way on that one runner,  but you will forego the quinella.

2.  You will have two best bet races where your bet is doubled.  They can be any two of the 12 races listed below.

Posting deadline this week is 12.00pm.

Please enter horse numbers, not names and remember to nominate two best bet races, and some form of punctuation between your two numbers is very helpful - thanks. 

Regular scratchings - you can replace up until the posting deadline.  If you don't then the following will apply:  if you have two selections and one is scratched you will move to a single bet on your remaining selection; or if both of your runners are scratched, or you have a single bet and it is scratched, then you won't have any runners in that race.

Late scratchings - any late scratchings will default to the TAB sub (and second win favourite if you already have the sub or both your runners are late scratched).  In the event of equal second win favourites the second sub will be the horse with the lower saddlecloth number.  If you have a single bet and it is late scratched, you will have a single bet on the TAB sub.

The table below shows how the seedings (Saturday's finishing order) will decide the pairings and the Groups. 

For example if you finish 18th highest on Saturday you will be the 18th seed and you will paired with the 23rd seed.  You will be 5th team in Group B.

If there are any ties in the seeding round they will be split by dollars earned (excl. best bet impact) in race 1, then race 2, then race 3, ........  If dollars earned are the same in all 12 races then the person who posted first will be the higher seed.

The pairings and groupings above are based on 40 entries.  If we get to 44 or 48 entries I will post an updated version of the above table in the early afternoon on Saturday.

 

and looking ahead, at the end of Pool play the Championship knockout draw will shape up like this.   Plate draw will take the same shape - just replace Winner with 3rd place and Runner-up with 4th place.

Good point PS - I did think about that.  You could deliberately tank your score to secure a higher seeded partner, but everyone in here can have good days and bad days so no guarantees either way.
