Toni street is useless when it comes to Horses, she doesn't know what she's talking about.  Secondly,  I DO NO WORK FOR TRACKSIDE, I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE KEEP ASSUMING i DO.  i WATCH TRACKSIDE BUT DO NOT WORK FOR THEM.  ALSO, THIS HAS GOT NOTHNG TO DO WITH AIDAN!!!!!

Do you mis spell and use poor grammar on purpose to put us off the working for Trackside theme? And Aidan is also useless so what's the difference? .. he almost starts hyperventilating when he gets all excited giggling and stammering. Was cringing watching him interviewing some Aussie personalities.

All very fine having Everest TV on TVNZ plus a premier channel on sky as well as trackside 1 , maybe that's overkill, just a thought, can't watch them all.

Good grief, there's just no pleasing some people is there. Premier Channel was more coverage of feature races with no filler in between, something people often complain about on here, and was different coverage to that on Trackside 1. The TVNZ+ coverage was free to air, something else people have clamoured for on these boards. So they actually do it, and you complain that it's too much. I guess f anybody was going to, it should be you!!

Was tvnz free to air on tv or  was it just a streaming service ?

If it's on free tv then good for them.

Not every one wants sky even if they can afford it.

I think one of the channels does the Melbourne Cup carnival, no reason why tvnz couldn't screen it so everybody gets to view as opposed to Toni Street and a rather weak coverage effort.

TVNZ+ is a streaming service, yes, but in saying that all TV's sold these days are Smart TV's anyway. My TV was made in 2016 but is a Smart TV [can watch internet streaming services directly]. You can also cast/mirror the service from a phone or tablet to your TV via various means, or watch it directly on your phone or tablet. The world is your oyster.

It sounds like what we have up here with ITV (main channel, free to air) showing two hours of racing before cutting over to the Wales-Argentina QF.

The racing switched to ITV4 (Freeview channel, not Sky) for the rest of the races (9 races, 5 from Newmarket, 4 from York) so that was three and a half hours of coverage.

The specialist racing channels did their usual coverage.

Premierisation next year will mean more mainstream coverage especially on Sundays which will hopefully allow more top French and Irish races to be shown on free to air.

What some fail to understand is free to air is TV, streaming isn't really free, u have charges just the same as Sky.

TVNZ are streaming sport but also show sport.on the Duke Channel, The Ashes. US Open, All Whites this morning, I think the Aussie GP is on Sunday.

If the event is a big enough deal then they screen it on TV, that's what sky do moving live sport to prime to get maximum audience.

Getting back to the Everest, if Trackside had a premier channel for Hastings and Randwick aside from the usual 1 and 2 and it was only on Sky then having another Channel on tvnz that seems almost like overkill, you can only watch one at a time,  just my thoughts but if it was really a big deal then it would have been on Duke or TV1, not streamed only.

Racing in reality isn't big in viewing numbers, that's a fact but Melbourne Cup, maybe Trotting Cup days do bring the sport to everyone's attention, that's when it needs maximum reach.

Just for the record I don't think the NZ Trotting Cup was free to all last year,

Maybe I'm out of sync with things but I'm sure the viewing numbers who watched the ABS v Ireland was lifted by it being on Prime, would racing lift its profile by following suit ?

It will be interesting to see what the viewing numbers for domestic Cricket will be this season as opposed to the last season or two with streaming only  Spark seemed to be a failure.

I don't know whether any of it was on Duke, or not. I didn't look (DID YOU?), as I already had countless ways of watching what I wanted to watch. Bottom line is, it doesn't matter what racing/sports bosses do (and providing any type of coverage certainly isn't free to them either), or who on here tries to help you with watching something, you're still going to be whinging on about how whatever they're doing either isn't enough, or it's too much!! And there's a cost to everything. Yes, even free to air live streaming has a cost attached to it, according to you. I'm assuming you mean you have to buy an internet supply? Well you're posting on here, or do you scab that off a friend or neighbour? It costs money to stay alive man. Living ain't free. I MEAN, You could watch a stream on your phone which would save you buying a TV. Everybody just has to work out what is important to them, and what isn't. I'm sorry, I won't try and help you again, as everything is either too much or not enough. Nothing will ever satisfy you.

Trackside Premier was just on TVNZ+ (formerly called TVNZ OnDemand), and SKY TV's pop-up channel 64.  Trackside isn't currently on Free to view TV, would love to see it back on Freeview.

And that's the point I'm trying to emphasize , I still don't get what benefits racing get by being behind a pay wall, I would strongly doubt many would sign up for sky to watch horse racing.

Sport is driven by subscriptions, racing by turnover.

And yes I stream  races on my tablet and love all the modern gimmicks too, as i don't have sky, not because of money, just can't be bothered with it, there is more than enough sport on prime,

Idol needs to lighten up a bit.

I haven't turned my TV on since my antenna blew over a few years ago.  I'm only interested in watching racing and I can watch it online so no point paying money to Sky for something I don't need.  I think people have been asking for something like Thoroughbred Central or Racing.com for a long time and they got it last weekend.  It sounds like many punters appreciated it.  Personally I have little interest in post race stuff.  I wouldn't mind seeing more of the horses pre race, but no point covering most of the screen with 130% market odds, with horses somewhere behind.

Hopefully Entain will get racing back on the radio soon. I haven't turned the radio on in my car since they cut it off.  Watching races in the car on the phone uses a lot of data and isn't very safe.  Please get racing back on the radio Dean.

Rugby and Cricket have good radio coverage, Racing can do better than what's on at present.

I thought the concept is great, enjoyed the coverage, Emily and George were great. Only wee criticism was their location, seemed like they were in a square box or a Garage. Maybe they can jazz things up for them so it's a wee bit more exciting and matches raceday atmosphere somewhat .. like a big screen with presenters on course for them to talk to. But hey great work all.

You don’t need to spend a cent to watch it on TVNZ plus

Some people seem to look for problems that don't really exist. Of course, not mentioned so far, is that you can watch the racing via the TAB website also. I think all you need is a positive balance? Having an account is free.

So is satellite FTA if you have a decoder. $18.50 a month from sky.

You can watch it on the HRNZ site without any account. The streaming format is better in my opinion as well.

I note Media Works future is cloudy after a big loss in the last trading year, they basically only have music stations but radio is a very fickle business.

You won't get radio Trackside back but with streaming online and a better setup than at present  with senz it can be a bit better than at present.

One hopes extended coverage of MV day in Vic, preferably a link to

Had another look at it seems they have a premier channel always, today, tomorrow , Sunday Monday, that's what it say in the Sky guide.

So what is the story, someone must know.

I also note TVNZ has Melbourne Cup for a hour on one.

I also note all sport on TVNZ is basically streaming apart from a couple of All Whites matches, and the Melbourne Cup, They did screen the Ashes and the US open  on Duke so just like Sky they do get a balance on what's free to air, Domestic Cricket will be on Duke, almost certain.
