No Mr Gee - that's not the point. The horse wasn't handling the track because it was on the rail throughout the entire race. It was racing on a Heavy 20 when the rest were on a Heavy 10. There was no effort made to get the horse involved in the race. I'm not bagging the jockey, I'm just hoping that, with time, her in-race skills improve. She rode the next winner much better, and that's the type of riding she should at least attempt every ride. Punters lose faith, and when punters lose faith in the product, the entire industry suffers. Some jockeys have great technique but aren't as good at riding tactically. Then you have jockeys like James McDonald, who are excellent at both, which is why he succeeds. You have jockeys like Wiremu Pinn, who are technically good, but lack the tactical abilities of the McDonald's of this world. If McDonald sat on the rail every time he drew barrier one and never made a move to get off the rail, he would be another so-so jockey. -

Then there was the rather dubiously named My Face. All seems innocent until you realise what most racegoers yell out when they're cheering on a horse.
