It's getting grimmer by the day for Luxon and his cronies based on yesterdays poll.

This is the poorest performing economy that I have seen in two decades and its all man made by idiots, who think that they know better!

Talking about YANKS being kicked to touch, it's so good to see the CEO of The Warehouse gone IMMEDIATELY.

He stuffed that company that's for sure, irrespective of what the Chairperson of the Board said yesterday.

It's called reinventing the wheel , we know what it's like from our racing management experiences .

Another nail in their coffin by “removing the first home grant”, just you wait and see.

But if people save their $10 a week from the tax cuts they can save $520 a year , only 10 years and they will be in the same position , they need to stop whining .

The coalition is looking out for everybody .

Hipkins getting hammered , capitol gain tax or Māori groveling probably both but one things for sure people love the change in direction the country is experiencing , common sense and logic is prevailing and stepping on the left wing leftover labour dominated councils is also a winner , this coalition is working brilliantly .

The changes are compared to the previous Taxpayers' Union-Curia poll in July, two months prior.

  • National: 39 percent, up 1.4 percentage points (48 seats)
  • Labour: 25.9 percent, up 0.8 (33 seats)
  • Greens: 11 percent, down 1.5 (14 seats)
  • ACT: 8.8 percent, down 0.3 points (11 seats)
  • NZ First: 6.8 percent, down 0.5 (8 seats)
  • Te Pāti Māori: 5 percent, up 1.5 (6 seats)

For non-Parliamentary parties, TOP fell 1.3 points to 1.1 percent, Outdoors & Freedom fell 0.7 points to 0.4 percent, and the combined total for all other parties was 0.8 percent. Undecided voters accounted for 3.4 percent.

Preferred prime minister:

  • Christopher Luxon: 32.7 percent - down 1.8
  • Chris Hipkins: 12.6 percent - down 6.1
  • Chlöe Swarbrick: 7.2 percent, down 3.7
  • Winston Peters: 6.7 percent, up 1.1
  • Jacinda Ardern: 6.4 percent
  • David Seymour: 5.2 percent
  • Rawiri Waititi, 2.5 percent
  • Debbie Ngarewa-Packer 1.1 percent

The poll was conducted by Curia Market Research Ltd for the NZ Taxpayers' Union.

Classic example of why councils need a real tune up , these council officers have been running lose all over the country , I  have an engineering son who has often commentated on situations where their quote is often a third of the final cost ., madness .

Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has commented on the replacement of four sets of stairs at Milford Beach at a cost of $263,000, saying this type of council spending cannot be repeated.

“I find this disgraceful. It does not represent the ‘better, faster, cheaper’ message I have been trying to get the council to adhere to since I’ve been mayor,” he told the Herald.

Auckland Council officers have defended the cost of the stairs, saying replacing the old stairs included all engineering design, consenting, physical works and management, surveillance, and quality assurance through construction.

My opinion hasn't changed about a one term Government.

These are the toughest times that I can remember for those in business and the unemployed.

Who is preferred is irrelevant, although I wouldn't have Chris Hipkins either.

Posted

I have to say that I can't recall a government that has pissed off so many groups of people , would be interesting to know how many people now unhappy with something they are doing actually voted for any of the 3 stooges .

Posted

Everyone needs to remember that no one voted for National and their partners. People voted to get rid of the previous lot. The same thing happened in the UK. People didn't vote for labour, they voted to get rid of the Tories. And in the USA people are voting against Trump rather than voting for Kamala. Seems to be the way of the world at the moment.

There is still a hard core of voters in NZ who remember how bad the previous lot were, so National does get a lot of leeway. The Government's biggest problem image wise is the distasteful impression given by the ex gun lobbyist and tobacco lobbyist who both make the Govt look quite corrupt. If Luxon can get those two to pull their heads in and stop creating bad press they could easily survive.

National just has to get over their inbuilt arrogance and try to appear slightly more competent than the last lot to get a second term.

It should also be remembered that the opposition are not strong, with no charismatic leaders. So to be honest, a reasonably lightweight Govt has never had a better opportunity really.

Times are very tough, that's true...the Coalition government didnt' make the mess but have the daunting task of fixing it...and there has to be a lot pf pain and the price has to be paid for all the stupid economic mismanagement by Labour (esp their second term). As usual it will be 'middle NZ' that pays the most - the Mum and Dad businesses, and wage'salary earners already struggling to make ends meet.

But given time things are likely to improve significantly within a year IF domestic inflation stays under control, IF interest rates keep tracking down and IF we can pick up productivity -exports/tourism esp - and attract investment, gey cracking on infrastructure projects that have been mucked about by politics/bureaucracy. Everything the Coalition is doing along these lines will assist this recovery.

Goes both ways , and they seem to be pissing a lot of people off .

And making even more happy.  The biggest contributor to the country's economy is still , like it or not rural NZ and times are improving for that sector , those who get pissed off have been badly misled by the previous government with their crazy unrealistic low interest rates and the massive increase in government spending with borrowed money to prop up civil servants and fairy tail projects , reality is slowly returning .

Let’s get real shall we.

This Government inherited a bloody mess thanks to Labour mismanagement and overspending…..$139B a year that’s nearly $30k for everyone of us. Our debt in March 2024 was $164B with an account deficit of $24B. Interest in 2026 will be $9.2B up from 4.6 in 2022.

And some of you are surprised things are tough ? No Harry Potter magic here, it will take time, and no doubt, more pain.

Unemployment has increased to 4.6% (143,000 ) with younger age groups particularly affected…15-24 at 28%.

Hardly surprising with a declining GDP, wage inflation of 4.3%, leading to tougher economic conditions ( ask retail, hospo ) and decreasing job numbers/opportunities.

Add the increase in those on benefits and it is not a pretty picture.

Interest rates are coming down, tax cuts have helped though not enough, and the real estate market is moving again with prices at more realistic levels.

Now if the Reserve Bank could just get its act together……

Light at the end of the tunnel, or freight train coming ? Let’s be positive shall we ?

Why do failures always blame those that came before them?

I always thought those that stood to make a difference promised that they could [make a difference] WITHOUT blaming those that came before them.

Whatever you build the foundation must be good , labour damaged the foundation of this country that's what must be fixed first , finance , hospitals , police , rising crime , inflation , race relations , education , etc etc they played with the lot for no good reason , all ideology , they deserve to be blamed .

Here we go again. Always blaming those who have gone before you, but notwithstanding all the promises, haven’t improved a single thing.

Every single indicator since National has been in charge (nearly a year) is grossly worse.

Really it seems you and nomates should be paying more attention , Quote , “Local authorities are seeing progress – with Auckland Council saying crime has dropped by 35 per cent in the Auckland CBD and Heart of the City saying retail crime has dropped by 50 per cent.15 Sept 2024

UNDER LABOUR 14 May 2022

Police data released to RNZ indicated violent crime rates in Auckland, the largest city, were up 30% from pre-pandemic levels, and remained steady compared to the year before – despite months of lockdown keeping people indoors. In Wellington, recent shootings left some residents shaken. A series of “ram-raids”, where offenders drive cars into glass shopfronts and rob them, have dominated the headlines

Cant be expected to perform miracles inside 12 months. Domestic inflation under control, interest rates down and will come down further.
RESPONSIBLE Government spending on essentials.

Better to do that in your first year and get the economy on the right track.

When the economy improves and people see things getting done they'll forget this pain which has been primarily caused by Chippy, Cindy and Robbo.  Only one of that terrible troika left and not a hell of a lot of talent in the wings.

This coalition will heading into the next election have some room to move with spending.
