the only thing he didn't address  is with a cut of I think it is nine meetings at Alex  park going west that is   a million plus  will  disappear out of the industry to owners mainly but trainers drivers.  It never comes back.
 
as far as whip goes  it is going to happen whether we like it or not (and I don't)  but I think if we address it before its forced n us I think we should and Edward is smart enough to figure it out.
 
Edward is a good man but I think he has it wrong- no Cambridge Auckland back up- everyone knows that is bad but why not Friday Tuesday  or Wednesday and he contends handicapping is not a big issue  but if you want field size you have to give mug like me hope - I have only one real Alex Park horse out of 7- programming handicapping is a big issue- its Easter just give me hope- I know there is only one winner for every race but most of us would like to think we are  a hope when we take a horse to the races- so when I know I am no hope I wont take them.Went  to Cambridge last night with 2 ok chances - one third  450 bucks- happy-profit for the week  minus 1500 probably but still happy. Take the same 2 to Auckland no hope really.
 
I keep using the word  hope- that's what it comes down to.
we have guys like Guerin telling us what is good for us but he has little or no investment in the game turns up only occasionally to the trots  and tells me I have to wear suit- really- and  to all  the other experts ???like him.  poooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
 
 
 
Does ATC ever question why a cheap meeting at Hawera can get full fields of even racing but they cant. ?

the point is it is racing I had a 2dollar fav wiped out of the derby in the first 50. I didn't whine its racing  ken barron said sorry and I laughed and said it will be on the other foot one day it wasn't deliberate- I had another cool handluke driven by mark where the same thing happened that happened to Maurice- u can be a hero or villain very quickly.
 
if Maurice had got the 1-1 he would have been a hero- you have to let go and put these things behind you. same as if you had a bet on rugby and a kicker missed from in front for the win in the final minute

Good to see Danny Blakemore win an international driving competition in Florida. great for harness racing- also there was a pro am which went off good relax   relax.

great selectors in the sale ring gr8 trainers- what more can you say.
 
 
all  the other talk team  driving  etc it  makes no difference they are like tiger was at golf  a class above the opposition and we will need some very special with big pockets to challenge them in the next few years. got to hand it to Robert Dunn he gets about his business and is the only challenger in sight.

aaron has real passion for the game which I appreciate- has to have a few fillers in their with so small fields.

trouble is winning a race where u net maybe 2800 for winning and getting the same penalty for a 20k premier  is hard to reconcile.
I was lucky enough to have a winner today . it is still a huge thrill no matter where it is especially for my good friend Peter Scaife but  now I have c3  trotter that has won not much and if he went to Auckland Friday night running against speeding spur.
 
I am certainly not complaining but the horse realistically has hawera and stratford to race at and then he is kids pony. 
There must be a better way. 
It still is great to win even after all these years but?

maybe but I have met him 5 or 6 times we watch the races in the same place and he is nice to me - introduced me to his sons-and has a good sense of humour and must be a good trainer. never done nothing to me.

put on a 20k claiming race at Auckland - that would bring a few out of the woodwork and be a better betting race than most of the other races on the card.claimers up to 12k .
 
cost the same (probably more) to train them than have faith in me.

good blokes him and the old man deserve all the wins they get- and a champion cyclist in the family as well

forget menangle the highlight on sunday was the kumeu trophy day- harness racing as it used to be - volunteers - the battlers..
Lloyd jury Cameron Shaw  Hayden Sefonte Terry Walker Matt Milina  played a huge part  good crowd funny- money betting- kidz carts saddle trot and saddle pace.
 
big ups to president roydon downey  and his committee.roydon  is getting kumeu back to the glory days.

also jay Abernathy trent lethaby  they did Auckland stratford kumeu in 3 days.  red eyed. they will sleep well tonight. Richard Brosnan  races Friday trials Saturday came up and supported us- what a great guy.

Tip for the future. Macs Creation now in jays barn won the main pace( with a bit of help from stablemate who seemed to run out in straight to let him through. )Then it whizzed home to win saddle pace.  Look for it in the Hawera Cup.
 
amateurs had 2 heats and a final- Imajollywally won the final.
 
K D Commando the saddle trot  and narrowly beaten in saddle pace.
 
gotta go twinkle beat san diego love in the main trot. 
 think going to have workouts there every Sunday blackboard entries- if ratified by the committee.

why don't you look at the trainers who are happy with amateur races in the southisland

all these guys are happy for them to be tote races coz they entered horses. all well known trainers.
and easy money for the tab how do you work that out?- they win on the tote and win on the fixed odds in almost all races coz of the takeout-
I hope you moan about the dogs who give themselves bad runs-  its racing choose your poison but you are going to lose anyway .

opie bossom has a contract in hk. definitely the ability but very hard to break in mid season and not being light. a few riders this season and cut short stints because of lack of opportunity and the fact Moreira is so dominant.
 
hope he does well lance o' sullivan did okay.  Greg Childs fair . Michael walker was only fair and I think cooksley might have pulled the plug before the end of a stint.
 
big money and best riders but I am sure opie is up to it but you need to kick a goal early otherwise they wipe u quick.
