Fair to say the aussie horses a class above at present, very dominant with the races they won and just the sheer tough performances how they won, had every right to be beaten, but were just to tough, one could only watch in awe.

Sad news about a top guy who did his bit and more for the racing game.
He was a busy contributor on here and always had time for a chat away from the keyboard.
    RIP Gary.

Impressive time for the cup, be close to a track record, aussie horses made us look second rate to be fair, both had every excuse to be beaten.

well the Aussies got held out in the death seat, and also 3 wide outside the death seat  (isn't that usually the deader than dead seat if you try and do it for a lap of the NZ Cup ?)  , for the last lap.  that was something else by Luke McCarthy.
Luke is Australia's very best but to win like that was amazing. (and death defying too lol 🤣😅) he better buy a lottery ticket after that.
and still kept coming on strong which was quite amazing considering how little they (LTF and Kingman)  race over those long distances.
Akuta and Republican Party crushed a bit surprisingly after their fairly easy runs  ,
and a nice dab through by 'Merlin'  late on though for 3rd . He'll be tough to beat Friday in the NZ FFA while defending his crown in that race that he won well last year after death seating himself.

Hopefully a successful one, certainly a tough game no doubt, maybe not quite as tough as the NRL.

Who cares if Michael House supplies nearly half the horses, if he doesn't  it would be a tragedy to see trotting in the CD close shop, because Palmy rely heavily on his support.

I notice at Wingatui next week the starting limits at all starts except 1,200m have been increased to 16 horses. This is quite a significant change. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned anywhere. Seems like a good idea to me, it is a big enough track.

Draws crucial in all races in my book, some say if their good enough they'll win from anywhere, ya certainly need any advantage on your side, luck another big one.
