I had mumps once.

What a great days racing at Timaru today , track playing great , and whilst the quality isn't great the racing is a good watch .
All this on Phar laps birthday , was great to watch Greg O'Connor and Luke Radich talking about and showing images of the legend , Luke as ever such a consummate professional , such a loss to the industry .
But congrats to all involved today , it's what make NZ racing unique , and shows what a huge loss Timaru would be for SI racing if closed .

Yeah totally agree, no loyalty when it comes to a dollar, shame I thought,all the hard yards Cartwright had put in, you do wonder on their line of thought, a jockey that knows her 💯 or someone riding her for the very first time raceday, don’t think the running of the race quite suited her, seem to be a slowing of the pace, an a sprint home, an she left a bit flat footed, still a top run in my book in town hall company,

I blame the connections . You don't change a winning combination especially with a 1.8 million race.
Matt C should have ridden the horse he knows her the best . May not have won but things could have been very different

Just ran into one of Bobs brothers who was sorting out a trip to Melbourne Cup week for the Skelton family Reunion. 50 years since Van der Humm won in the bog for the unflappable RJS

I frankly don't see what is wrong with that. The Timaru club and community are promoting what should be a great days racing.

Do enjoy following the punting side of things as a watch, there bets on short priced odds not my cup of tea, but the in-house celebrations I find amusing, I guess a wins a win, so can’t knock them for that, not sure what the format is, people obviously put the cash in for the betting fund, always easier to spend someone else’s money though.

Not the first and won't be the last by a long chalk, but Wow that would put you off your breakfast. I'm old enough to remember some similarly expensive flops that couldn't go fast enough to keep warm in a sauna when they got to the trials and were retired without racing. Then there were the expensive flops that did get to the races, like Columbia across the ditch and Sang Royale closer to home. Others with better memories than me will be able to provide other examples no doubt. It's a fickle game and breeding is no guarantee to success. Then you have the other side of the coin - with absolute bargain buys - Takeover Target springs to mind - bought for a mere $1,250 and won $6.3 million in stakes after winning eight Group 1 races. We all live in hope...
