  1. This is why very rare I have a go , because I think what's the point if the horse is going to sit 3 or 4 back on the fence hopefully get out in the last lap . Then try to make up ground on a 56 , 57 last half that's impossible . Instead of wasting time just have 1200m races only lol
  2. Don't you feel for Jason Collett though . Rode the winner in its first two starts and ended up falling on the horse he rode instead
  3. It's about time they made some changes . As mentioned before bring back the rule , where if any horse causes another horse to break anytime through a race , they face disqualification regardless of where they finish Often you see horses squeezing up others to get into the trail , 3 back etc but never anything said . It's funny how drivers can push a horse in anytime through a race but can't push out until the last lap . Stupid thing is and I have mentioned this often . There is no longer is a running rail , so any incident up front horses can go on the inside of the track . Back in the day we only had a running rail , so no option but to go over a horse that fell or over the running rail . So bring back the push out rule where drivers can push out at anytime through a race it's a lot safer now . With the current rule only being able to push out on the last lap makes no sense either , because that's when horses are going at max speed other than at the start , so more dangerous anyway pushing out then
  4. Good thing you are awake lol . I didn't even notice
  5. They should bring back the rule they had back in the day . If a horse causes another horse to break , they are disqualified regardless if at the start or anytime through a race
  6. When I was in Pukekohe working for Wally Francis he had the equine pool there . Quite often trainers like Harvey Wadham would swim their horses there including Wally's of course . It keeps them off the hard tracks and I reckon gets them fit too . I know it does for us humans
  7. Mo'unga without doubt would have won the race . On the corner Jolimont just kept up enough so Tim couldn't push him out . If Tim had pushed him out and come outside Chase a Dream he would have cruised in . DSD just had the momentum up enough to hold on
  8. Bob is a good friend of mine has been since school . He has been living in Perth for about 40 years now . Poor Bill passed away quite a while ago . Don't remember Ace was he a junior down there ?
  9. Love to be his Bookie I could retire early lol . Tom Kitten was never a chance in that field
  10. I didn't realize you worked with JD PS . He was always over at Jim's in the weekends hitting the piss , I left while I could still walk lol . I drove his horse Noble Ring to win at Cambridge . I was lucky because Bob Holmes should have . But he used to crack me up with some of the things he came out with Sadly missed for sure but know if there is a bar up there JD and Jim will be there
  11. Must have been him Spike because he was a real handful for Jim to drive . I just can't remember what happened to Wet Again . I do recall one night at Alex Park where a horse fell up front , Jim didn't see it fall and Wet Again went over the top . Pretty sure the horse wasnt injured but poor Jim was pretty bruised . John Devlin was connected with Jim back then . He had Noble Ring , Eastwood La Due and Smart Move . He used to buy and sell horses pretty quick . I just wonder if maybe he arranged the sale of Wet Again for Dave if the horse was sold
  12. Got to take my hat off to Gary Grylls the way he has handled this horse since she started , just a brilliant ride every time
  13. That list brings back a lot of memories PS thanks for showing that . Derna as mentioned before , he was an exceptional trotter but he had all sorts of problems with his feet otherwise he could have been anything Estrada I remember Mike Close , Robbies dad winning on him at Cambridge at 50-1 . Kenyon he was a smart horse , used to be hard to catch in front . Jim had some handy horses over the years and it was really sad when he passed , he was so good to me
  14. No can't remember that one Spike . Only young horse on the Property was Wet Again that I remember but Dave Smith owned him . Murray Miller used to bring over Mountain Haze he was a young horse too wasn't him you were thinking of ?.
  15. I will tell you a funny story that happened years ago . I went down to Wanganui with Bill Smith , son of trainer Jim Smith you remember him of course as was working for Jim . Bill said to me Charlie back Bonnie Cardie I will piss in , from memory he was paying around $6 . Put my cash on , Bonnie Cardie lead to the turn and ran down the track hmmmm . Brought him back to Alex Park , Jim took the spreaders off , he lead all the way and paid $80 . Guess who didn't back him lol . I think since then I have been too traumatized to back a horse with spreaders
