Agree almost entirely with you ,though slipping Jimmy Tomkinson in there maybe a bit of bias ,as he more a 'boutique' trainer.
I doubt if any trainer in NZ has been handed such an artillery of horse power  , buying power and great administration and organised ,dedicated staff as JR.
He went in when the stable was clearly in the top 2 x stables in NZ so had a good start. And clearly taken them to next level.
Of course ,since it all under his name the Otago bred lad has shown what can be done if you get out of bed early .
Since training alone his Stable has travelled extensively and gone for and achieved domination in most of NZ's major races.
    Impressive.
In NZ Harness the Purdon empire has ruled for much longer at dominating big races in NZ and throughout Australia too.
The CD has produced some good trainers over the years...Syd Brown , Eric Ropiha , Noel Eales , Brian Deacon as well as Baker who was mentioned earlier.
Further south , Cochrane and Winsloe won NZ Premierships in days when 50 wins was enough  then there was DPWilson , AEDidham, HAAnderton and WJHillis who won many of NZ's big races at different times and certainly kept the big Northern stables on their toes !

Murray Baker has an incredible record.
Jeff Lynds has an astonishing record with unfashionably bred horses. He has given Danske, Just a Dancer, Electronic Zone and Don Edurado their only group 1 winners.  Just off top of head.

I think Jamie Richard’s, on top of his horse skills he has all the all round package (runs a big team of horses and staff, personable, modern and great communictor) to be a big success in HK.  He has had Te Akau as a force in Oz since he has been there.

I'm a bit nervous answering your question after reading  you telling a sensitive poster to pull their head in ! A bit threatening ! WOW !
But seriously ,I am pissing myself at your comment that you don't watch Trackside so wouldn't have the foggiest idea !
Quite an admission from probably the most prolific poster on NZ racing on this site.
How do you  gather so much info....in academic books and as a small owner/trainer down at trackwork ?
You commented that you came home on Saturday after trackwork and saw horses on the tarmac in Pukekohe birdcage.....were you on zoom to see that or have you moved North from what I assume is a CD base ?
Then tonight you ask a question re the connection of the TAB and Trackside , the broadcasting arm of the TAB  !!!!!

Maybe time to move on........understandably they were under pressure from the codes to  maintain or increase the distributions.
Hence they started paying out more than they actually earned hence their equity/reserves were minimal.
Hence when it time to refresh/upgrade their crucial betting platform they had to borrow the money ,so were unable to pay their creditors.
An upgrade was felt necessary as they were providing some 2,000 options to bet on each day when their Aussie competition offered over 20,000 or was it 200,000 daily.
It appears that this 'investment ' plus cuts in other costs and improved controls along with duty savings etc has seen better results/profits.
In addition $20 million was spent on upgrading Trackside equipment including modernising the  4 x Outside Broadcast vans which handle all the Live broadcasts.
But paying out more money than you earn is real risky business practice ,especially if you hoping on tax/duty relief from the Govt .
Hence the Codes now taking more responsibilty to build up some reserves and putting more expectations on Clubs to run their clubs to a good standard and help themselves.
And its unlucky that all of us who could do much better at running NZ Racing than those employed , are doing other jobs. Bad luck indeed !

So the culprits in NZ have been the administrators in past eras ?
Not the current or recent lot that folk on here like to savage !
Then there are the owners and breeders of recent times who escalate the problem by selling and racing most of our top horses to/in Australia.
Yet we expect the current lot to be miracle makers and redeem the situation.....the task looks an impossible one !

Heck you make them out to be coal miners who have a handful of gravel for lunch! They definitely dont eat humble pie after tipping 40% of the card to lose every meeting. How is that possible?? Maybe they get a commission for every failed tip.
Hundreds of names and jockeys?! Please - its not a game of Memory. Its their job - a job where they see and meet those participants every week.
Venues? Well the powers that be are making that easier by the day with the Messara bollocks.
South Island? Yeah do us all a favor and cut us off from the north and we will run our own industry quite happily and successfully. No need for us to keep propping up you lot.
Heres a question - Why do we really need presenters?
They add nothing. They go over the same old rubbish every week, every meeting, every hour in fact. The same jocks and trainers get interviewed. The same questions get thrown out. We never learn anything new, let alone worth. We have a 5 minute build up - whoopty. And again we get tipped tripe - in fact if you've had a bet you pray Pops, Sweens, or The Shark have not picked your horse. If so you may as well write it off.
Walk into a Ladbrokes or the like in England. No presenters on their loop. Just one person announcing the next from Bangor goes in 2 minutes. Easy, simple, no fuss, and letting the punter get on with what he/she does best: backing their own judgement!

OK read on. Any evidence of the connection? I do over seven figures a year turnover on NZ racing at a small profit. Don't watch trackside (actually hardly ever watch tv - better more constructive things to do)  and do less than 1% of that on the NZTAB. You are not really making much sense at all.

In NZ you also need to take into account AML laws which are solely the responsibility of the provider of a service where money changes hands.

Thanks to P4P who made a phone call to E Rendell, who in turn passed it on to some lady ,very pleasant she was, The issue was my  phone ID was so similar in facial features with Brad Pitt, that the technology was not able to separate the images.
