Trump 2,741 Report post Posted May 21, 2017 In 1997, at Rosehill (I was there), The Big O winning the Mercedes Classic in the last stride. The crowd was deafening over the last 200m as the Octagonal "slowly" started to gain ground. The applause was still going 5min after the race finished! elbow and Black Kirrama

Insider 3,962 Report post Posted May 22, 2017 Showgate when she won the treble at the Cup Meeting all those years ago. From memory it comprised the Stewards, the Churchill and the Canterbury Gold Cup. 1200m, 1600m & 2000m but I think that the order of the races was 1200m, 2000m and 1600m. Some achievment that's for sure and worthy of the great ovation. sir1galivant and elbow

The biggest ovation she received was when Bob Skelton led Show Gate back into the birdcage after winning the 1977 Trentham Stakes in NZ record time despite at the 1000m damaging a suspensory ligament for the second time in what was her last race. Every person on course stood and applauded the champion game mare. elbow and hedley
We're Doomed 4,868 Report post Posted May 22, 2017 Grey Way's Timaru Cup. After several tries he finally won it when paying quite big money, but still the crowd favourite. Also his 50th win was pretty popular.
