Catalano 951 Report post Posted October 15, 2023 Showing my ignorance, but if you have a horse that’s gone in the wind (grade 4), can that heal up with a couple of years in a paddock?

Alf Riston 1,555 Report post Posted October 15, 2023 On a serious note, I thought it was treatable rather than holing up for a couple of years? Although Grade 4 seems pretty serious so possibly not.

He would be able to explain the tie back procedure and "wind Opp ". Or ask your own vet or trainer.

gubellini 4,010 Report post Posted October 15, 2023 Catalano best to retire the horse. If put back into work you might sneak a weak maiden sprint but zero chance of winning over ground. Catalano
Catalano 951 Report post Posted October 15, 2023 Thanks all. He’s no champion (1 win from 20+ starts, but that was on Cup day at Ellerslie!), so I’ll just let missus continue to groom him and have snuggles. wph, Insider, Pam Robson and 1 other
Chris Wood 1,577 Report post Posted October 15, 2023 Michael has pretty well summed it up, I wouldn’t bother with a wind operation in any form or fashion, huge vets bill and no guarantees.
