Remember the maiden winning? Shamus Award? The handicapper and selectors are always right.

Of course they are.....Because the Chairman “likes to see a 3 year old in it...” 🙄

If that thing wins the Cox Plate as a prestigious race is finished.

Jameka won the oaks with a leg in the air, if Maher sees ‘that thing’ as  a realistic chance with 200k to back it up you need to take notice, get your Cox/ Derby doubles on now

I think Team Williams have every right to feel hard done by. By any measure of current form or results over the last 12 - 18 months, Buckhurst deserved to be ahead of a couple or more (including Grandslam), but thank goodness Buckhurst is not kiwi owned and trained - the stink would be unbearable! Realistically, I think I’ve got it nabbed in 3 picks and look forward to Sat.

But Shamus Award won it, having never won a race prior.

So the Cox Plate was finished after that?

Shamus ran and placed in 8 Group and Listed races before the Cox Plate.....Grandslam has won a 2 year old race in Adelaide.

No difference there then......🙄

The Bookies have Grandslam at a similar quote to Shamus Award in 2013.🤔

Someones way off the mark here and i cant see it being the  Bookies or Maher and Eustace 🙄

Best form guide race for this is Armoury's 2nd in the Group 1 2019 Criterium International  at Longchamp , a gallant effort to place .

He was beaten 20 lengths in a match race on bottomless ground. He's better judged on his third to VICTOR LUDORUM in the Jean-Luc Lagardere last year and on his most recent effort when third to MAGICAL in the Irish Champion finishing in front of subsequent Arc winner SOTTSASS.

I'm not convinced - quick ground and Australia might be the making of him. I'd prefer him to SIR DRAGONET who looks a bit of a dodgepot as we say up here. ASPETAR is rated 116 and if that's good enough to win a Cox Plate, the Aussies and Kiwis are in a world of trouble. ASPETAR won a Group 2 at York last time but had to go to Germany to find a Group 1.

MAGIC WAND has a huge chance if you forgive her last effort which was dismal. The earlier Eclipse fourth was decent and the Nassau fifth okay. She was fourth in the Cox Plate last year and beat a certain MELODY BELLE in the MacKinnon so if she brings her best form doesn't she win the Cox Plate or go very close?

Both MAGIC WAND and ARMORY have to overcome slight injuries to run on Saturday but the former's foot abscess is more serious. A second veterinary inspection on Friday morning (Aus) will determine if the two O'Brien runners are cleared to race.

Magic Wand out. Buckhurst in. No doubt Williams camp is happy. Lot of rain forecast there which could upset a few tonight and tomorrow.

They could have put those two in horsefloats  and drove them round track  , they still not beating  the first two from up North . Placed Listed Royal Ascot form good enough this year , let alone a group race up  there.
