  1. I like to see the owners given there own room where all drinks and food is provided free for the whole day. They are the people that put up the product, if they didn't you wouldn't have the racing clubs and all the other by products that generate there own wealth. At the casino if you are a regular customer your turnover determines the level of reward you get. I know of people that get given overseas trips, and corporate boxes at sporting events etc. Food and drinks are all free, give a little and get a lot back.
  2. Is it my observation that when I watch the main meetings in Sydney and Melbourne you seldom see any interference but in NZ each week it is like I am going to the stock cars not the horse races.
  3. got to be a lot of people out there that love this racing game. I never see a shortage of horses lining up. Why not just get a horse and race it in Australia, there stakes are great I sure you only need to win a race there to make ends meet and the rest be in your pocket. My take on this is that there is so much racing and only so much money to be divided between each race based on the quality of race and the day of the race. So if we cut the racing in half then you could increase the stakes by 2, makes sense, easy pezzie pudding pie. I think I go fishing from the rocks and save lots of money
  4. we are treated like a bunch of juvenile delinquents, one or two people miss behave and they bring out the national guard thinking we all behave in this manner. I see the 7's is struggling to sell tickets due to the change in liquor laws with in the event. Remember the days over Xmas at Auckland races where the infield was packed they bring in the bull shite saying one or two were spoiling it for others and now you have an infield where the numbers have been reduced by I would say 3/4s. I use to attend the races an I never saw anyone been that much of a problem, everyone was having a good time, maybe a little to much to drink but they were still behaving.
  5. Had some of the same comments on NZ radio's this morning and I think we had 3 jocks die not long ago in the same week in Aus and no one was talking about banning the races but have a few horses die and people are up in arms, go figure.
  6. Not sure they really are that sensitive, I worked in Japan and there was one practice up there that made me sick to the stomach and still does today when ever I think about it. If some horse lovers knew of this practice they might not sell there horse to Japanese interests but then again money talks. When I hear of a horse been sold to the Japanese from NZ around sales time I think you poor animal.
  7. Yes they did some years ago stand Crimson Gold. Got to feel a little sad for them, they were taken for most of there wealth by a local lawyer which was documented in media at the time.
  8. I am sure in this day and age we all view the great websites that have fantastic information from Australia and many links to the various betting agencies without having to worry about weather we have a site in NZ that advertises or not.
  9. that got to be one of the funniest things I seen for a while, tears of laughter.
  10. I stayed in a motel based on there advertising that they had free wifi. I ask the office for the password and they gave me a printout with all the details and for my three day stay i got a small amount of data for free before I had to start paying. I don't recall the amount I had to pay once I went over the allocated amount but I do remember it was very high. I took issue with them for there misleading advertising to be told it is a normal pratice within the industry, and if you go to some of the more up market hotels/motels you will be paying a lot more. This really got me going, I was now pissed off, I get sick of this whole thing in NZ where we have an industry of corrupt business practices that believe in ripping people off so I started telling them that nowhere on there website does it state the free wifi is limited. After I said I will be taking this matter up with the right people we started getting into some negotiations. In the end I got my free unlimited data and I still haven't taken it further, but really be careful when you think you are booking into a motel/hotel and getting free wifi. And yes they had no Trackside and they weren't even interested in having it, there answer was I was the first one to ever ask about it. So there you are we are a dying sport within the motel/hotel industry, they don't care!!!
  11. Tell the Geisha to go to Alexander Park and see how it is done, save him 6mths. They have a sectional timer that breaks the race up into quarters if I remember correctly in real time, never understood how the gallops was so far behind in offering this service. We want to attract overseas investment into our product and yet we must be looked upon as the hillbillies of racing. We don't even have a line going across the screen to show who won the race in tight finishes. One day they might work it out, it not that hard
  12. ha ha just shows you the best have as much chance of getting the quad as everyone else. Next week take all the horses they don't pick and you should get it.
  13. Just for those that might not be aware of this I thought I better put keyboard to screen. I took a Final Field place bet at 9:07am (Friday Te Rapa) and around 9:15am my selection came through as a scratching, no big deal it happens. I looked at my balance thinking that my investment would be refunded to my account so that I could carry on betting. 10.30am still no sign of my return, so I give them a ring to be told that with Final Field bets the investment isn't returned till after the race so my bet is on race 8 (4.33pm) I have to wait all day till my entitled money is returned to me.
  14. I agreed with you to some point that I like to bat for the small fella, sadly I would rather put my money on the better jocks and might rather just sit back and not have a bet.
  15. I don't have a problem with the final field market for NZ racing, in fact I love it when odds are posted at 9am you get a chance to look for value, sadly most of the time you are better to wait till closer to race time where divs are adjusted more closely to the tote odds but every once in awhile the bookies get it wrong.
  16. yes maybe they got no idea of how to frame the field till most of the money goes on then give some unders hoping no one backs anything with them other than the tote that they get there 20% take or what ever it is they grab.
  17. The final field odds for Kilmore (Monday) are only been shown very close to the race start. I haven't notice this happening before, is this the norm during the week? My race is 8.30pm so more than likely I be snoring on the couch with the TV going in the background. Must be a reason for this, not sure you see this happening in Aussie with all the competition they have over there.
  18. one way to beat the system bet with cash at any TAB or race course. 2: get brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers people you trust and they open accounts up and you use those, always ways around these roadblocks.
  19. Real champion he be the sort I could stand at the leaner and sink a few ales and have a few laughs with. Thanks for the read
  20. Pretty sad picture that the TAB portray of themselves. This person really is gold to the industry and here he is treated in a manner that could cost the industry much more than what the TAB is losing. No wonder NZ racing is where it is with that sort of treatment. Remember the days of Steel Balls and his large bets (100K) bets and the TAB were talking him up, playing on his ego to bet more and making him a hero knowing he was a mug bettor that they would one day have all his money. Guess what, they got all his money to the point he was broke and they didn't once say no Steel Balls we can't steal anymore of your money we taken to much already. Should be laws that stop this sort of monopoly. Saw a chap at the casino was more sober than myself and was making a fortune a little later on they got the heavies and told him he had to leave as he was intoxicated. TAB and casino make many millions a year and should have to weather the bad days by law.
  21. the nazi's at work, you little kids need to be told what to wear and how to wear it as you really are to stupid to be responsible to work it all out for yourselves. These nazi's will be coming into your homes next and telling you how to live.
  22. Just like government departments and councils and many other organisations within this country they are corrupt and unaccountable. You only ever need one bad captain of a ship to sink all the hard work that is done over the years of many good captains, so easy to spend money that isn't yours and to be paid large sums to do it regardless of the results of your decisions.
  23. there was a foreman for Rogerson who rode in a jumping trail at Rotorua some years back thinking in the 80s fell and died and then there was Neil Hain.
  24. thats everyone ripping everyone off as the usual in this country. Businesses don't need to be charging a surcharge. When setting prices you look at the costings of public holidays etc for the year and then you factor those costings into your prices. Some ass came up with this great idea in the restaurant trade I think from memory and now many businesses use it and it becomes the norm. In fact most businesses that are open for business make more on the public holidays than they do during normal days as people are out spending money instead of working. When you look back some years ago we never had a surcharge for anything.
