Dusty, before you make judgment,,,Greyhound nz bankrupted him,so he has served his time,he no longer owes money to grnz under law......Let him get on with life as all he ever was convicted for was betting while a employee, there are trainers who have done a lot worst like sending your dog to the races with a class a drug in them

Mike ,the dogs come first to me not the club or the board of greyhound racing.....another two career ending hock injuries at Auckland today.....when are these guys going to spend the money to redo all tracks in NZ with new sand and putting them back to the gradients they were designed to be when built, instead of all this other stuff they go on about that all it does is employ some more staff-----Gezz there wont be room for the public soon at the awards night , our board will take the room up on there own.....

Today at Auckland in race 4 the 3 dog was the last to box, first of all the starter should not have let the even dogs box until the 3 was in the boxes, but no he did.....the problem comes that there are rules and it seems our stipes do not understand them, in horse racing there would be a inquiry...but not in greyhounds, in fact no mention....does it make a difference? cause it does because there are rules that say odd dogs have to be boxed first.

Flames, Do you suggest we send our middle distance dogs to race for the better money in Aus? All of what you say is correct but what is the point you make. Are you saying we are correct and Aus is wrong in the treatment of sprinters? Have you consider why they run for less in Aus or in fact the rest of the world?

Of course an owner would get a thrill with a win no matter the distance, we still do no matter the distance, but to keep our industry viable and competitive in a situation that depends on the punter we must try and present the best product possible. NZ greyhounds have reduced the  spectacle of racing by fielding majority sprint races.

We have raced sprinters with some success and as I said in an earlier post and if we were chasing the wins we would we seeking more but our hearts weren't really in it. I guess it would be suicide for a public trainer to take that point of view as they would have bugger all races to compete in and if you own or train sprinters Flames then good on you, this is not about individuals it is about poor direction from the top

Your final sentence is ambiguous as big money may bring the best sprinters to race but not the best greyhounds

My point is still, that no where in the greyhound world do they have a group one sprint, all this will do is increase sprinters coming to nz, which is what I thought they were trying to stop by putting a $5oo import fee on aussie dogs....sprints are like the lotto races of greyhounds, jump and you win...

This is swip is not a c5 dog, and only a average c4 dog, she has not come back from a false season and has lost her confidence, we tried the pill on her and I now wish we didn't...one reason why we will not be taking any outside bitches anymore, we will just race our own and the ones we have already have.

90% of owners and trainers love there dogs and treat them like royalty ..They are very much a part of the family.  Every dog we have (if pet capable) and we are one of the bigger kennels, finds a home after racing, in fact we have 3 coming home for Christmas while there owners go on holiday, and that's the deal with all of our rehomed dogs......our problem is in our administration at board level.  You have made them so scared the truth is not there any more....dogs will get injured no different than dogs who run free in the park or run out on the road (greyhounds don't do that).. in fact I want to thank you and the protection group because through your efforts we have lure covers, safety padding,  and if you want to sit down we as trainers need your help.  We have a board made up of mostly people who don't even understand our sport - we were far more efficient when we had the Irene Close's and the Joses of the past administrating on there own.....so Aaron work with us not against the owners and trainers who care.

Also Greg are you giving us a track curators view....you had no dogs race Friday at Wanganui, (so just trialled). You had 4 Thursday at Cambridge and 5 at Auckland - the rest were solo trials bar the one you said they collided.....also years ago cambridge had the best racing surface after rain ever, not so since some machine ripped up the drainage?????  I know it's pre your time but you are stuck with what you got.  And I don't imagine it's easy.  My point is, GRNZ should put the money into all tracks and surfaces as part of the welfare act.  With us, 6 out of 8 dogs racing being injured is massive.  Also, solo trials where they can take the rail would have less chance of injury.  Racing in a field of 8 on a concrete surface - it's a no brainer

What Phil did was to dead dogs and inside the law as in the animal welfare policy, what these tracks are doing is to live dogs outside the law......And to your question I  have had my turn and would not have the time to do the job credit.
