  1. Always very classy the Aussies, and will take some beating in all formats, always have the edge on us for sure.
  2. Usually find out a long the way, takes a bit of time, but they usually surface.
  3. Looks like an interesting concept, and for free, got to be good.
  4. I think the ex head racing man mr allan has something to do with Wellington university.
  5. All very valid points, but in the context of things, this still could have still happened, no matter when or where or with who, and no doubt she had the best veterinary care possible.
  6. Unfortunately we live in a throw away world, they don't want you keeping your old one, as good as it is, nothing built to last these days, sad old times we live in, and they wonder why the landfills are full to the hilt.
  7. Yes very sad that those people crying taking the poison, to keep a job to survive, was never a choice, and now they are saying birth rates the lowest ever since the 1930s, and we know why, sad for all the people left with a myriad of injuries and illnesses resulting from it, and it's still early days, just about cost me my job, I hung in for as long as I could, was lucky to have an understanding employer, and managed to ride it out.
  8. Unfortunately that's horses, and a shame they sent her to faraway places to get in foal, I'm sure a suitable sire could have been found closer to home, top preformed mares quite often don't carry it through to stud, real shame that she's passed on, but part n parcel of the racing game, hence to say we were warned on breeding horses, and our only attempt was close to disaster, and our mare won't be breeding anymore.
  9. The world is full of experts these day, have you noticed, so the rest of us may as well jump on the bandwagon to.
  10. Interesting sometimes when a horse can come from the back of the field and preform well, the rider thinks it can do the same when ridden handy or in front, unfortunately doesn't work like that, very frustrating for owners and trainer to put in the hard yards and have a poor performance by the rider on the day, the other side of the coin it doesn't take to many of these rides to change a horses racing pattern, seen it many times, and eventually when the gates crash open they just want to go hard, and can't be held.
  11. My local pharmacy was broken into last night, all the stocks of viagra were stolen, police are looking for hardened criminals. I lost my job at the local subway shop, they'll never find anyone as good as me to fill that roll. If the dove is the sign of peace, what bird is the sign of love ..... the swallow.
  12. Can recalled the years of my time at cricket, bowled the odd maiden over, only just a memory these days.
  13. Typical labour trying to control everyone and everything, I'm a non smoker myself, but have no issues with any hardworking tax paying kiwi having a cigarillo, just like a few of us enjoying a bet or a beer or whatever, as for the enquiry into the covid response, it'll be just to appease the public, will cost more money for bugger all answers, I think I'll head down to supermarket, heard they make a nice ratatouille.
  14. What do you call a psychic dawf thats just escaped from prison,.. a small medium at large.
  15. True things are a lot more modern and better than yesteryear, but at what cost, yes all the technology has made things faster, TV coverage better, but unfortunately not the crowds of yesteryear, one doesn't have to attend the races, can sit at home with a beer and cigarillo, the crowds of the good old days will rarely be seen again, and some of the quality racing stock as well, but I guess we must live in the present day, but great to look back all the same.
  16. The memories of the semaphore boards on the course listing drivers, riders, that had to be changed after every race, also the old tote boards, with the bands, and the balloon going up, my hasn't technology come along way, for the better? well that's a matter of opinion, hard to forget the good old days, things far less complicated.
  17. Shame for the clubs name to dragged into it.
  18. Man goes to the doctor, says doctor doctor I'm addicted to iPads, doc says I've got a tablet for that.
  19. They were all fine to can, no big money or crowd on course,.
  20. Interesting how many riders were questioned on poor on performances of their runners, they seemed to get into the track a bit but times seemed good, but interesting with a couple of riders reporting a loss of footing, seems all the tracks have issues these days no matter how much is spent on them, combined with the healthy in safety rules, it's not surprising there's plenty of abandoned meetings, and just maybe no amount of money thrown at it will change the situation.
  21. Tough to make the cut in Australia, shame he couldn't stay.
  22. Sad to see him go, but nothing new in the context of others that have been treated the same over the years, dosen't of course mean it's right, lots of injustices out there in all forms many we wont hear of or care about, but life goes on, and as they say as one door closes another one opens, wish him luck which ever door that is.
  23. We know which racing the public like, most don't worry about the class of horse or the stakes, they'd rather the grassroots stuff, telegraph big stake, hasn't drawn a big field or a big crowd, the coast racing drew the crowds at all venues, with average numbers and stakes
