Surely must be a record for Harness in NZ.

16 x races going around at Addington on Monday

I think there were 277 nominations so its great so many horses getting a run ......including 3 x Group races .

A longish day for all......11.30 am to 6.30 pm

There are 9 x Northern horses racing which means there will be about 16 Northerners there for Cup week.

Most were eljay ,but I believe a few others considering hoping on the flight and some would have been waiting for Sires Stakes final spot to be confirmed !

The mighty CopyT is goin down for the Cup tho ay?? Bad To The Bone is already down there set to fly the flag for the North 😀👍

Cheers Iraklis

He might struggle in the Mainland mate. There are larger fields to go around here, 14 or 15 in a race; up north 5 or 6

Who's everyone' best bet for Kaikoura Metro?  Shame it's where it is but it is what it is.

Always keen to have a bet on the side in-between football, World Series, Ballarat races and work.

Give me your best.  I'd expect Funny Face to make the trip this time next year.

Best for me is Taipo, a tough field, but a slight drop back in class & the mobile will help.

For odds, Trixton Time. I'm expecting the Dalgety's to have a good day

Well George,

Probably you can expect the usual names to pop up in winners circle....Dunn ,Purdon/Rasmussen ,Orange.

Here's my picks ...couple of hotties and some value.

Firstly , Romeo Shard and True Fantasy just win.....max your bet then double it !

Some odds......R1 Dance Till Dawn

R2......Overzealous [wide draw ?]

R5.....Claasie Washington [ big odds]

R6......Lulu Le Mans

R7......Franco Steffan [ Quinella with RS ]

R9......Classie Dancer

R10......Off N Gone [wide gate]

R12......My Ultimate Chevron [ second line ?]

R13.......Bad to the Bone [ new driver , but tough horse ]

R14.....Shan Noble /Steel the Show [ Quinella ]

16 races....phew !

Good luck !

Janitor mate, don't you worry bout the mighty CopyT or the big Bad Bone, they'll be there and the rest of em will know it 😀 👍

Cheers Iraklis

Thanks mate. I don't follow North Island harness closely. I stick to Canterbury and Southland and top Aussie tracks, that's where the value is found!!!

Weak effort from Bad To The Bone. Laver the only horse to have a go, again. Laver far tougher horse than Bad To The Bone, that cannot win the Cup.

Sorry Janitor mate dont agree, nothin wrong with the horse Bad To The Bone; just cos Laver's 'driver' showed enough grit to gun round and have a go, doubt horse made that decision all by himself; don't be baggin a horse who's showed he can foot it with the best of em and still be whackin, come on now.....

think Laver is one of the toughest horses full stop. The Flying Stakes run was enormous - same thing yesterday. I had a decent play on him to place (and also top 4 bet ) yesterday. Thought he was tremendous

Some really solid tipping there, started the day blissfully and nearly got a couple of good roughies up.

Big day.  IT was just a little too much for a Monday.  Good luck today ya'll.

If only it could have held on for 3rd-

I thought he had. He's my favourite horse and I have made plenty of him. Yesterday I put my $70 bonus bet on him FF3 $5. Almost had a good pay-day for  Cup Day investing. Never mind.

I would like to see the photo finish. I see both Henry Herbert and Laver clocked the same time. Must have been a bloody small nose? Dead-heat surely?

Geez, you're a  bit touchy today mate? Did you lose plenty on Bad To the Bone? No offence. I was not bagging the horse, just saying that on yesterday's run Bad To The Bone has no chance in Cup. And for the record, Laver is one of the toughest horses in New Zealand and he is far tougher than Bad To The Bone. Fact!!

Janitor,Janitor, Janitor you well know I don't bet!! its a mugs game so not touchy in the least, you seem to be tho just sayin, an you lost how much? 😀 go back and watch the race again BadTTBone did his best, and his effort was as good as it could be given what happened; shit start, pushed from pillar to post, he looked like he just switched off, I can handle that.....in your opinion the mighty Bad Bone can't win the Cup, I think he can, and I guess so does his trainer or he wouldn't have sent him.....however it remains to be proven whether or not Laver is the tougher horse, and any of those that get into the Cup field can win it next Tues.

I will be cheerin the reps from the North specially the big Bad Bone. and cos he's local for me, (so is Sth Coast Arden for that matter) the mighty Copy That! I was down watchin that last workout of his and woooeeee got windburn from out on the road.....

Cheers Iraklis

PS. when do they announce who's in the Cup etc?

Not sure about your fact as mentioned above.

Sounds more like an opinion.......I too think Laver one of the toughest horses in NZ , he shows that regularly and did in the Jewels in June as well as recently

A fact re Laver...he has won 6 races from 43 starts and $87 k ! And starts from unruly at stands so starts behind field.

A fact re Bad to the Bone......he won 9 races from 39 starts and $240 k. He was poor the other day but I think having a new driver ,unfamiliar with his style was a huge disadvantage.

Neither horses will be considered among the favs for Cup......there are 3 x strong candidates ,one of whom I expect to win !

Laver will be everyones roughie !

Over the years the odd 'roughie' has surprised by winning Cup. My father talked about Invicta as he was going to be scratched as lame and little form..My Dad travelled to the races with the owner....none in car backed it.I think Borana was rough..I lived overseas at time.

but i do remember rank outsider Smooth Dominion running $1.90 winner Iraklis to half head ,and Anvils Star and Matthew Lee [MHouse] running places as rank outsiders.

I'm sure there have been others.

Another fact....if you line up at start ,you have a chance !

Good Luck Janitor...hope you clean up !

Cheers George ,

Got a bit adventuresome picking a few roughies but next weeks Cup week is the main dance for most , so unsure how many in lesser races would be 'busting a boiler'.And was nervous about picking in lower class trot races as hard to line up form.

Once I saw the divis on tote I did very well overall ! Even if I say so myself !

Next week is the big dance...even tho some of stakes not huge the races usually run at high speed ...much excitement , so the class horses come thru and the ones that sit back on the markers can run into a place at good odds !

Good luck.....bet with your shoe laces not your shoes !

Thanks mate.. I've already got plenty on Laver FF3 $15.... if he makes a flyer and can get away with the field it is on. Gerard will take the front and keep em honest. He is very hard to run down when Gerard has him trucking in front... I don't think he can win the Cup but second maybe, third... definitely.
