rumpole 483 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 After almost 3 hours yesterday afternoon the appeal by the RIU was successful and he got an extra 4 days. Mr Oatham was asking for 12 more so I suppose one could say 4 was not too bad but bad enough Turny and We're Doomed
billy connolly 63 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 Nice! We've got imbeciles (RIU) together with imbeciles (JCA) finding a 35 plus year professional (with over 2000 wins in the bin) guilty of 'improper' riding in a $7000 maiden affair at Ashburton. Go figure. jasonmccook1, We're Doomed, Jabba2 and 1 other
chelseacol 2,488 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 what was the cost of the hearing do you think Rumpole ? The reason I ask - I heard on Radio Trackside earlier today a replay of (I think) Mike Godber saying they were going to appeal a fine which was a few hundred dollars less than they were seeking. While I get justice has to be seen to be done etc etc - you do wonder if there is any appreciation by RIU/JCA at all here ?? Go figure. What are you saying? Because a jockey has 2,000 wins in the bin they should be able to do what they like out there, without any consequence? The other jockey was relatively inexperienced so it's ok to deliberately steer your horse into theirs? and it's only Ashburton, and it's only a $7,000 maiden race, so anything goes? What if the other horse had fallen or the other jockey had fallen off and was seriously injured. No problems because he has 2,000 wins in the bin and it's only a $7,000 maiden and it's only at Ashburton? Leggy 4,155 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 Was the appeal against penalty, or the amendment of the charge?
rumpole 483 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 14 minutes ago, Leggy said: Was the appeal against penalty, or the amendment of the charge? Both Leggy that is why it took so long A very experienced Jurist decided it was careless riding. It was so CWJ pleaded guilty see decision ref to link above he got 6 days at this time of the year severe but he didnt appeal it would have cost him about $10,000 and 10 wins
Leggy 4,155 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 Thanks Rumpers. So, was the appeal against the improper/careless riding charge amendment successful thereby requiring a new penalty decision, or was it a revised penalty decision for the careless riding charge? rumpole 483 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 On the basis of the films the Appeal Tribunal said Professor Hall was wrong to amend the charge An improper riding charge was reinstated and he got the extra 4 days

eastern whipbird 82 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 The RIU was not a bad idea when it started but now it appears to be totally lacking in judgement and common sense at the top. 2ex-clerks(Oathem and Godber) are simply not up to the job. elbow, Jabba2 and Scallywag
