fasthorse got a reaction from N1MUE in The bonanza continues .
(1) the winner of the G1 was super impressive so perhaps he is as good as the previous winners you quoted , time will tell .
(2) Nothing selective about my posts , the stakes for the weekend races I quote are correct and prove racing is improving . Nobody needs to race for the smaller money , it's a choice .
(3) Where the money comes from is totally irrelevant , as long as it keeps coming .
(4) The million dollar race was a Winston special , not funded by the usual revenue streams .
(5) No positive comments , that's no surprise ,it's what I expect , I'm quoting undeniable facts which leaves the negative brigade no room to move .
(6) Ownership is a choice , the fact that ownership has remained stable in recent years proves owners have a very good understanding of where racing is and what to expect , suffering ?, it seems not .
(7) Pay attention to Hesi's post , the last line and learn something .
Looking forward to cup day .

fasthorse got a reaction from N1MUE in The bonanza continues .
Recently I have highlighted the good stake money available at the better meetings in the last few weeks , it continues .
Lets examine Riccarton ...
Day one , minimum stake $30,000 , this includes a maiden race , the winner receives $17,500 and they pay $400 back to tenth .The best stake on the day ,$400,000 .
This an overall increase of $40,000 on the day compared to last year .
Day two , minimum stake again , $30,000 with two maiden races programed , the best stake ,$230,000 , the next best $100,00 , next $80,000.
This is an overall increase on the day compared to last year of $70,000 .
What a great result for racing , racing is on a roll , let's hope those responsible for these improvements continue the good work .

Here we go again .
Ellerslie on Tuesday , MINIMUM stake on offer $30,000 , the least any winner on the day will win is $18,000 .
Top stake $70,000 , next best $40,000 .
Geez , it's almost like printing money and it gets better , they pay $300 back to 9th .
Keep in mind , no nomination or acceptance fees on the lower grade races .
But wait , there's more , transport allowances , $300 for HB and Manawatu runners , more for Horowhenua Wellington .
Things are looking up , opportunity knocks .

fasthorse got a reaction from king canute in Training fees
It's a fact , look at today
Te rapa last year 10 races total stakes on offer , $200,000 .
Today , 10 races total stakes on offer ,$224,500 , that's an increase .
On Saturday the increases were everywhere .
It's a factual statement , no more no less , stakes have gone up , accept it .

fasthorse got a reaction from Cubes in Training fees
First , Cubes post 31 is the most informative and covers the topic clearly .
rdtdy and a couple of others refuse to accept that most horses are not in work for a full 12 months of the year which is where we differ .
Now TURNY , you might like to use the EDIT option and remove the latter part of line one , it's grossly offensive and unfair to the people you are attacking.
For the record , once again , I have NO links with anyone from Petone , display a bit of good character and do it .
I find it disappointing that biff and leggy find this type of attack acceptable.

What a great weekend coming up .
Ellerslie
a mdn $10,000 , the next lowest stake is $20,000 and they pay $200/$300 6th to 9th .
Win a R65 and that will cover 7 months of training fees .
Trentham,
minimum stake , SP mdn $20,000 , 2 x bm 85 $30,000 ( that will almost cover 12 months expenses ) , 2yo $50,000 and the Thompson $70,000 .
Riccarton
( Ashburton , seems to be a blessing in disguise ) has created a bonanza for Riccarton and us loyal NZ punters , minimum stake , a mdn $10,000 , the next lowest stake is $17500 , the winner will receive $10,935 , or about 6 months expenses paid for .
To make weekend racing even better why not trim some off the midweek crap meetings and add it to Saturdays .
I can see all the perennial whingers out there running for cover , it just gets better .

Tom Woods , after race 7.
After race 7 based on the figures quoted the club had made an extra $17,000 profit .
At that stage ( from memory ) off course was up about $300,00
The precise figures will be out in a few days .

fasthorse got a reaction from THE TORCH in Looking good
Saturdays racing was great , strong fields , big crowds and excellent turnover , Hawera's turnover was almost double the previous year and off course was through the roof .
Complete justification for boosting stakes on Saturdays and the higher profile meetings , owners and trainers are chasing the money .
Hawera's worst stake was $10,000 for a maiden , the next smallest stake was $20,000 , the best $80,000 .
The previous week Hastings had a minimum stake of $40,000 , next week Rotorua ,$70,000 sprint , a $50,00 open , a $10,000 mdn being the minimum .
The following week , Trentham , Thompson $70,000 , $50,000 2y old ,the worst stake is $20,000 .
Racing has never been better , all you need is a fasthorse , but wait it's there's more.
The opportunity's are endless , Nena rock highlights the choices that are available .

fasthorse got a reaction from Aaron Bidlake in Taranaki leading the way.
hedley , clubs are not conventional businesses or banks , they don't pay tax and are supposed to operate for the good of the industry , it's the industry that funds them .
Clubs should not be flush with funds , any excess funded should be reinvested for the good of racing.
Any club sitting on funds and being more interested in a large bank balance is letting the industry down .
I am aware of on that lost an estimated $20000 on a recent meeting , they could go on loosing money at that rate for the next 30 years and still have some reserves left .
Where will we or racing be in 30 years ??
-
fasthorse got a reaction from Aaron Bidlake in Taranaki leading the way.
The number one issue for anyone involved in racing is stake levels .
Any club that has the ability to generate extra money and then adds it to stakes should be strongly supported by industry participants .
Agenda ,no agenda .
If a club has it's date changed , so what , and then they complain to the media ,not a good look , especially when they have serious reserves .
Anyway don't be fooled ,there are clubs out there with very very healthy reserves , they are not all struggling .
When did you last hear a club complaining about a lack of funds ??
Perhaps the trainers union should start paying attention to those clubs who can afford to do more, a quiet word with them might be fruitful .
Once again , well done Taranaki .

fasthorse got a reaction from Peter Jenkins in Seriously, Pukekohe 800M Racing??
Why not save some money ?
The next trials are a couple of weeks away, assuming they aren't washed out ,that's $1000 in expenses .
A start at counties will save that and will probably be cheaper than a trial.

fasthorse got a reaction from puha in "The handicapper is the most corrupt person in Racing?"
First , I dislike the title of this thread , no proof or even hint of the title being correct .
2Admin2 , you continue to write crap and display ignorance.
Economic drivers ,rubbish , thorn prince could have raced at Ellerslie in a BM 85 , 1400m, $30,000 on the same day that he took on the open horses and won over 1400m and $25000 at trentham.
A win at Ellerslie would have seen him rise 5 points which , in the long term would have seen him carry 2.5kgs less in the Tamaranui cup .
Your example is not a handicapping problem .
(ps) what happen to the great horse shortage ??

fasthorse got a reaction from porky in "The handicapper is the most corrupt person in Racing?"
Von , this is a very clear process and can be seen on the NZTR website .
Dickens ,has missed in his last two starts and has lost 3 points but won 4 starts ago when rated 94 , after that win he was placed at WFA G3 when rated 97 .
Intransigent 88, has lost points in his last 3 starts and has won only once and placed once in his last 10 starts.
Perform and go up , fail and go down , it works reasonably well .
I hope intransigent performs today and gets 5 or 6 points , it would be helpful ..

fasthorse got a reaction from puha in LETTER TO THE BOSSES OF NZ RACING
Sports betting is for the benefit of racing .
.
No different to any modern business , petrol stations used to sell just petrol , these days food , coffee , firewood etc etc, these extra sales improve the profits.
For racing sports betting is a good thing because it's profiting from people who may not gamble on racing but will have a flutter on other sports.
The three racing codes will get the profits.

To start in a 50k race, the entry and rider fee is well over $700 , then add on transport etc , no change from a $1000 for the day.
Perhaps some of you should get into ownership and enjoy the experience of paying the bills before bagging this initiative .

Good to see your catching on 2admin2, it's taken a while but your getting there.
These 5 million tourists have money , they want to spend it and have a good time.
That doesn't mean 5 days on a bus eating sausage rolls and looking at birds that can't fly.

Sportsman , Sportswomen , you must be kidding .
The jockeys are the only sports people involved in racing , can you imagine a bunch of trainers trying to sprint down the straight .
Better have two ambulances on hand.

fasthorse got a reaction from Michael Roustoby in last weeks TT result
That's easy porky , it was me and what makes it worse is when I went to collect at the super market I had to fill out a 20 question form and then wait about 5 days to receive my money.
I asked the lady who was assisting me, what's the largest amount she had seen paid out , this was it.
Lotto is a chance to win big which is what TT is supposed to be but %betting is killing any chance of growing a huge pool.
Punters will support TT just like they do lotto , keno but only when they see a chance to win big , minor prizes aren't important .
I will continue to buy a lotto power dip and pay $24 for my 20 chances to win big even thou the minor prizes are over rated .

fasthorse got a reaction from Hound Fan in Waipuk abandoned
What would you like us to say von , close it down ?
The argument that we need these remote tracks because other tracks can't take more racing in the winter is wearing thin.
Look at waverley today 65 runners and waipuk must have had about the same , that's one days horse numbers for racing , not two.
The race day damage being done to tracks is a half of what it was in the past , on that basis some tracks can cope with more racing and others are not needed .
I wonder how much money the industry lost when ypuk was abandoned ?
-
fasthorse got a reaction from Insider in Another sad day for the industry
So do you agree sheriff ,
small % betting is the problem ?
I've just spent $24 for my 20 chances to win lotto tonight ,the same $24 will give me 480 chances of winning T T which is the reason it gets struck so often.
Small % wins keep stopping the pool from growing.
If the pool was allowed to reach 3 or 4 or 5 million it would probably succeed.
