  4. Update: TBV UPDATE ON SUDDEN HORSE DEATHS Dear TBV members and breeders, We are reaching out to inform you about the recent incidents of horse deaths in the Victoria. TBV is closely monitoring the situation and wanted to provide you with an update. First and foremost, we want to assure you that at present, the Thoroughbred industry has not been directly affected by these incidents. We have been in contact with the majority of the farms in the Mornington Peninsula area and none of the thoroughbred farms have been affected so far. However, we understand the concerns that these events may raise within our community. We are actively working to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our horses. TBV has been liaising with Agriculture Victoria and Racing Victoria, who are actively investigating these sudden horse deaths and working diligently to find a resolution. To stay up to date with the latest information, we encourage you to visit the Agriculture Victoria website at https://agriculture.vic.gov.au/livestock-and-animals/horses/sudden-horse-death-investigations. We also kindly request all our members to report any sudden deaths or onset of illness in horses to your local vet, Agriculture Victoria or via the emergency animal disease hotline 1800 675 888. Furthermore, we urge all our members and breeders to consider developing a farm biosecurity plan, if you haven't already done so. A comprehensive farm biosecurity plan can play a vital role in safeguarding the well-being of our horses. The Horse Venue Biosecurity Workbook provided by Animal Health Australia offers valuable guidance on creating and implementing such plans. You can access the workbook at https://www.farmbiosecurity.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Horse-Venue-Biosecurity-Workbook.pdf. We understand the concerns and uncertainty these incidents may generate, but it is crucial to stay vigilant and proactive during this time. By staying informed, reporting any incidents, and implementing necessary biosecurity measures, we can collectively support the wellbeing of our horses. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out to us or your regular attending veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns. Best regards, Carrie Hu Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria
  5. Update: https://www.racingnews.co.nz/breeding-season-doubt-for-per-incanto-following-accident/
  6. https://www.breednet.com.au/news/23104/per-incanto-breeding-season-on-hold- As reported yesterday…Thoughts are with this great speed influencer, LASTUD, and the syndicate of owners.
  7. Ribchester also worth considering
  8. If interested please private message me for details with proposed mare. Cheers
  9. Thoughts from my NH mates: Derby is a head scratcher. ARodin is fav still but that is because the books have laid him throughout the Winter and can’t extend their prices. Appleby’s Military Order ( a brother to Adayar, 2021 winner)won the trial at Lingfield showing he stays 12f. The Foxes won the Dante at York but has stamina doubts. Passenger was denied a run there and is shorter in the betting than The Foxes. He is by Ulysses who Stoute also ran in the Derby on his third outing finishing down the field and only proving how good he was at four. Supplemented byNiarchos for £85,000. Dettori rides Arrest w ho won his trial at Chester. I can’t have the fav. He should be double figures at least and I still wouldn’t touch him. In addition Coolmore keep trying to get the Deep Impact bloodline to work over here and so far without success. The following are those for me who will stay the 12f, Military Order, Arrest, Waipiro, Artistic Star & Adelaide River. The latter has no chance. Artistic Star is an interesting runner. He is a Galileo out of a Fastnet Rock mare. Won his maiden over a mile on soft and a novice over 10f at Sandown, sure to improve for going up in trip but again only his third run.
  10. And another with G1winner Belclare
  11. Another set of stakes horses out of O’Reilly mares today at Awapuni … in Tavattack and Arby…. It just goes on
  12. Congrats to LASTUD and all on Per Incanto’s Blue Diamond win Pedigree attached, 1st dam from the Halo sire line and she has a 3x4 to Nijinsky.
  13. Incidentally, The Coolmore was won by a filly “In Secret” and she spanked them.
  14. Interesting. Perhaps a great stallion who is getting on in life is still at least a good stallion. A poor one will always be. I have thought that if a mare don’t leave a stakes horse in their first 2 foals it’s unlikely they will at all. can a young stallion reinvigorate an older mare - maybe?
  15. The new Flemington stand is not that good, in many places you can’t even see the bird cage… poor design imo…spent many a year in that old Riccarton stand. Good on you Tim. Good decision and outcome for you.
  16. Sorry to hear Don passed away - when was that? And yes a kiwi fruit breeder.
  17. I am still breeding from an iffraaj mare that goes directly to phar laps full sister Raphis … it’s the ‘walk’ family.
  18. Slowly run pace, sat last in small field, sit and sprint home, no impression from the back, needed run.
  19. Thought I would share one video from the Stallion Parade…Hello Youmzain at Cambridge stud. Sorry it might take a bit of loading…have others if interested. CC7A8D0F-361B-465D-8778-ECB41C415DC8.MOV
  20. One of the great racing fathers, always working in the background, and so kind and genuine. Sad day.
  21. Pedigree gold IMO https://www.pedigreequery.com/armory3 classic Nijinsky, rainbow quest, warning, sadler’s wells, Danehill dancer, … all gold Galileo as a sire of sires the main risk IMO. Others might be able to talk to the actual family pedigree.
  22. Think the best 2 foals from my bay mare - by a bay sire - are chestnuts and were/are group level horses. Both sold for six figures as well so others thought so as well. So I’m of the opinion that it’s a wife’s tale or in more politically correct terms now..bull$&*# also think some of iffraaj best were chestnuts - gingernuts!?
  23. Eulogy video here: https://youtu.be/uYVGXyzocM0 ive am still breeding from the eulogy line…
  24. Agree. I’ve ‘worked’ behind and in the gates in a time where stable connections were allowed to do so at Riccarton… it looked like there was a lack of decision making and some horses given too much time, creating issues with those loaded and waiting… need more confidence and timely decision making.
  25. See Hollywood North won it’s Maiden. how did the others go?
