  1. I disagree. What is needed is an extra 50 horses in the 60-80 bracket.
  2. simple reason - the club cannot afford it.
  3. If you own a horse, and lease part of it to a trainer, why would you even charge grazing on the horse when it is sent home either permanently or with the intention of going back to the trainer. Seems very tight-assed.
  4. I play in a sports team with a dozen guys aged late 20s and early 30s. Approximately zero of them have any family connection to racing, nor any real knowledge of the industry. The extent of their racing involvement was easybets at the tavern over a few jugs. A couple of them got added to Boys Get Paid, had a few wins and are now hooked. Most of the team is on there and they live for the hot tips and all they talk about is the next Ellerslie race meeting they can attend or the Punters Club they can get in to. I'm a harness guy and have done absolutely nothing to foster their interest. But because of BGP, there are now 8-10 guys, all professionals with good income, and plenty of disposable, hooked on to the industry. This is only a small bunch of guys but I get the feeling it's a microcosm of the BGP movement and it's impact as well as future potential.
  5. Has there ever been a New Years Day harness meeting? Not in recent memory.
  6. P4P, what do you make of the evidence around a horse being administered something on race day?
  7. It was, but then it got deferred earlier this week until December 13.
  8. Has an upcoming commitment in NZ.
  9. Big story on it in last week's paper.
  10. Pukekohe will be sold by 2024 regardless.
  11. The RIU can't comment on most of those charged specifically due to temporary suppression orders.
  12. LongOwner I am sure you will read with interest the just-released story on the case in this week's Informant. Headlined 'Operation Inca... much ado about nothing?'
  13. FYI, once the scratchings are removed the first tips represent: 6 favourites (Great Fantasy, Feel The Burn, NO Doctor Needed, Benson Buys, Bar Room Brawl, Whitehaven Beach) 2 plunge horses (Its Official Babe 14-7, Crackared 9-5) 1 second favourite (Somethingaboutmary) and Realmein.
  14. Monaro Mia and Zadaka were late scratchings. In other news, this narrative is boring already. Get a new hobby you dunce. Ring Iraklis and dribble to each other.
  15. These are the same as Matt Markham's in The Informant.
  16. The Shark is a fictitious character created by NZRB's marketing guy Nick Tedeschi. They changed the TAB Trackside social media to 'The Shark' and they just funnel all their tips and picks from various people through that. Don't get sucked in.
  17. FTM, Addington leave their noms open without fail every week. Just shut them on Tuesday and stop this charade.
  18. Congrats Brian. As a gift to yourself, why don't you close nominations on time for once in your life.
  19. Lather Up won the North America Cup....
  20. 11,600**
  21. Godlike stuff from Fitzy. Serious question - does this service justify the somewhat exorbitant salary he's on? Is it being marketed effectively? I would say no.
  22. They found out by bush telegraph because someone overheard an RIU member talking about it on the phone at the races shortly after the results were returned.
  23. There was only 9 wins available
  24. It was reported by Adam Hamilton on HRNZ on April 23. The other crowd just lift everything off HRNZ. Credit where it is due. https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news-and-events/latest-news/6816-shez-rocking-towards-nz
