The last line is the saddest part of what Trentham has become , it was the punters that made the place .

In racing Trentham is my first love , grew up there through my formative years , and have so many fond memories from attending races there and seeing so many great horses and races . It's fantastic that it has stood up to the hammering it has taken through carrying CD racing , sure luck has been involved with weather , but good on them . Sadly for me what it brings into focus is how badly the CD tracks are performing , and reflects on those running our industry . A huge dose of luck has got them out of a hole .

Seemed pretty fair. Inside was slow. One jockey said after the 7th there was a rough patch round the turn and was letting the stipes know. Looked in good nick in the straight when I walked that this morning. Outside had been well put back where there was the most wear and tear from last time. A good day but very few there.

Yes Pete poor old CM will be eating his words soon...raced very fair today..and great to have a decent track and not only bogs to race on at this time of year.

I used to love betting at the old Ellerslie , just can't get a read on this one , I hate the home turn , the making of a horse or the death .

I'm not sure Pure mate. Akuta won seven races at 3yo, $454,500 in stakes. Marketplace to date has won four races, stakes $339,000. He should win more G1 races this season. So the horses will have a similar 3yo record. Akuta raced in better crop against the likes of Republican Party, Franco Indie, Beachball, Franco Mac. Marketplace really doesn't have much competition. Marketplace, like Akuta, is a Bettor's Delight so will improve with age and good staying horse. Akuta is on the comeback, due to trial soon. so the pair might clash one day, then we will have our answer old mate. Until then, I'll sit on the fence. 🤣

A couple of divvies understated by $1 in those last race scores.  Will be corrected in total safter next race.

Iv'e just come inside after being in the garden all day and just caught the finish of the last race. [The only one that I have seen] Turning for home they were spread right across the track. To me it looked to be playing very fair for the middle of May, especially as it's been raced on twice a month on average, since the beginning of December - Five and a half months, twelve meetings. I say hats off the Jamie and Mark the track curators, as they have done an incredible job given the pressure placed on them with Hawkes Bay, Awapuni and Otaki out of action or partly out of action [Otaki] during that period. [Hat's off to Waverley too] To anyone who saw all the races today, how do you think the track performed especially Leggy who was on course.
