the Big Sam Banner straw that Andy Mc Cook had for sale is the LAST one left in existance.... he hasnt thrown to bad from the couple litters he has had in NZ. His pups go all right. Plus hes the sire off Big Sam Jr and Young Sam Banner who was a top dog as well. Being a double bred grand son off brother fox at $450 bux it was a to good a deal to ignore lol

You really do have to admire Zebidiah as he closes in on his 5th birthday.
A former NZ sprint champion still very competitive at the top level.
102nd start at Addington today and a good 3rd to Clone Your Own and Quedrago.
30 wins and 34 placings at Addington.
A real trouper and a consort or two would be a just reward for loyal service.

I still think that the South Island has overall the higher calibre and more competitive fields in the country, by I think the C.D has well and truely passed the Northern area for a clear 2nd place and not too far behind the southerners.
The Auckland and Waikato area would have to be a distant third with pretty average fields most weeks and anything can win really.
With another Southern trainer rumoured to be moving up to the C.D in the next few months it might even get more competitive, not sure why more C.D trainers don't race at Auckland and Waikato, they would win a lot more races and make the northerners lift their game!

Very puzzled to why the secretary has got away from this what I can understand without a charge. So what if she had been influenced by Mr Freeman, she has a very responsible position within the industry and as far as I am concerned and should be punished for her actions. One month for Mr Freeman is a joke he will be laughing drinking a glass of red wine. Good on you JCA for continuing to reward appalling behaviour.

I think it is great that there are so many younger trainers that are doing so well. It is great to see that they ignore all the negativity that there is in our industry and just get on and do a good job. Well done and keep up the good work.

I'd like to write something positive about our industry on here to go against all the usual bull poo and cry baby stuff that goes on on this site. Let's see how long it takes for some uneducated story teller to ruin this but I'll give it a go.
I'd like to congratulate matt roberts for his great start to the season after moving north. I'd like to congratulate glen Hodgson on his great placement and training of Kilchurn. I'd like to congratulate aleisha speight on getting a runner who she bred herself into a group one final. Congratulations to merv and alison with above all. I'm sick of hearing of conspiracy theories and people making unfounded accusations and spreading unfactual rumours. Anyone else got anything else positive to add?

Ashley. You don't have to answer to anyone other than owners when they're disappointed with one of your dog's performances.
Your dog's always give their best and usually only racing luck beats them.
You have a great team at the moment and are doing a top job with them.
All the best for the remainder of the season.
Corey Steele.

Yep, anything like that, I like Jibbs' suggestions too. You wouldn't need 5K per dog, just make it slightly more than usual to entice connections.

Oh thats a shame. Something like that would definately be exciting.... Its boring going round racing the same dogs every week and watching it to. Something bit more exciting bring the competitive side out in everyone and a bit of friendly interisland/club comp would brighten things up a bit

In the UK they had/have a Track Championships as trainers are contracted by Tracks.
It was a Ladder comp. Team Captain was appointed who selected dogs contracted to their tracks to race in 5 or 6 races/categories(?). eg: Bitches 450-520, Dogs 450-520, stayers 575-650 etc. The tracks had home and away series and points earned for wins/palcings and at the end of round robin, top 4 went on to semis and then grand finals.
Was great viewing and punting!
NZ could do a comp Southern vs Canterbury, CD vs North and then a Grand Final!

Between Auckland Cup (early March) and Wanganui Cup (early Aug) there are no Group 1 races for Open Class chasers (520m distance)
A series of races (heats) across the country with a Group 1 final could easily be arranged
We used to have the Top Gun (Top 8 selected by a judging panel) during the Mar - Aug period but I think that race was scrapped and the funds put into petrol vouchers lol
-
Alesha_666 reacted to dustydreamnz in Hatrick Raceway
What about a series of 3-5 races where the top 8 dogs nominated race for good prize money on different tracks? There could be a points system in each race and some bonus money at the end of the series for the top 3 dogs.

great more races for the locals!!
brendon and mat trial there most race days and sundays so that's bullshit about people not trialling there!!!
safer than running dogs around at home on dry hard grass
