  1. You are quite correct, aquaman. Shandell was unlucky as was Cawbourne Bright incidentally. That greyhound made up many lengths for its placing. Nevertheless, to the victor, the spoils. Dream Collector's turn-of-foot at about the 630m mark was the winning of the race and it brought a number of oohs and aahs from the crowd which included many who have only a passing interest in greyhounds. It was the undoubted highlight of the 21 races on a dual-code night. The back-story of DC is well-known and the Group 2 Kingston Cup win the other night was a fitting reward for the efforts of so many to have him back on top of the dais.
  2. Ha ha. I can confirm, after chatting with Trevor today, that we are now 100% sure it has not happened at Addington. I am not going to count them all up but I think we would have had approximately 17,000 races at Addington since opening there in October 1997. What a good idea yesterday for the Southland meeting to remember their first winners when they kicked off at Ascot Park 24 years ago. Brought back many memories.
  3. Would the judge be eligible for the million? Just kidding.
  4. Interesting. I note a couple of people refer to it as having happened at Christchurch.. We, and that includes Trevor, have discussed this on a number of occasions upstairs when it has nearly happened. However, we are 99.9% sure that a race has not ended 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 at Addington. I remember Ernie Fuchs saying it had not during his time in the judge's box and it certainly has not during mine. Those taking part in the discussions agree, however, that it definitely did occur in the north island a few years back. Cambridge maybe? Can anyone help us out here?
  5. Monday, November 28, 1966. This was the meeting when the Greymouth Jockey Club made a special presentation to Mr and Mrs W G Skelton, parents of Max, Errol, Bob, Frank, and Bill who feature on the front cover. Listed among the Committee none other than O'Donnell J J Jnr; and again on the Judicial Committee J J O'Donnell Jnr. And further down the page the judge: J J O'Donnell Snr. Wonderful stalwarts of racing. Requiescant in pace - J J Jnr and Snr.
  6. Another well-deserved success for the Garry-Gaylene-and-helpers team. Yes, Scotexcited certainly has left - and continues to leave - some crackingly good dog.
  7. Congratulations to the team.
  8. This week's Friday meeting - June 19 - has been abandoned. The 9 races that were not held tonight will now be held this Sunday June 21. First race at 11.20am, the last around 2 o'clock.
  9. "Like a few track records... " " ... like many records" Please name them.
  10. A very convincing and well-deserved win. Good work also from the runner-up
  11. This was a credit to all concerned. A stunning performance and I believe the Dream has come through the race and the trip in excellent order.
