  1. When looking his ratio of foals on the ground to runners is fairly good, his NZ foal crop of 2yr old runners to winners ratio is just as good as the more expensive sires, plenty of decent sires didn't leave any 2yr winners last season. Dalghar didn't get a huge band of mares his first 2 seasons in NZ, in his first NZ season he has got foals on the ground, 2yr olds to the races, had winners and a listed win also. Efforts thus far by progeny haven't done this stallion a dis-service and hope the best are yet to come.
  2. Watching the replay of Tanya's first win, for an apprentice she rated the horse very well in front and her win on Sunday she also made a decent job of holding the horse up for its run. Yes her finish needs some work but she definitely looks capable as far as her ability to handle a horse. Well done on her wins and with abit of hardwork she should make the grade as an apprentice in the south, definitely a real shortage at the moment.
  3. Obvious from all of the above posts that not one of you have been in Southland in the past 24hrs to experience the absolute deluge of water that has fallen. There is a lot of surface water lying everywhere not just at the racecourse. Nothing could have been done differently by the course, rainfall in the past 3 days had been near non stop.
  4. Thanks Nathanleslie, we are wrapt with her and can't wait to get her home. Nice win by Astara on the weekend, exciting stallion to be breeding to. Good luck.
  5. Fantastic choice, we bred to Dalghar last year and the Mare has gone back to him this year. The King's are lovely and have taken really good care of our Mare and always keep us up to date. He really stamps his foals and is leaving strong bold foals. Dalghar's female line is fantastic, we were happy to get a Filly by him.
  6. Hi, wanting expressions of interest in agistment of horses in southland area. Would also be a option of pre-training and handling of horses if required. Experienced with racehorses and environment to cater for all types.

  9. Agree, lovely ride and once again sat so quiet even with the other horse setting the challenge. Most would of asked of the horse much before Haley did. A horse well rated by the rider, well done Haley and the team behind Wotabuzz.
  10. Its the same as any other industry and the idea as to add credits to on job learning. In most cases the employeer will keep a diary of skills employee can complete and diary will be evidence of employees ability to complete said tasks. From the the ITO assessor will sign employee off as compentent in things like stable management and care of horses etc.
  11. All about training people to unit standards, recognition for the skills people already have. I imagine this person would sign track riders and stable hands up to national certificates in things like stable management etc and work with employees and employers to get people through the unit standards. All about generating money from government in the way of funding for training.
  12. I've found horses tend to constantly fiddle with the ring on a ring bit rather than accepting the contact. I only work and race mine in a snaffle and if the don't work well in one then they need more schooling. I hate the use of gadgets to mask issues with horses.
  13. A very devastating thing to happening and to such a fantastic racehorse, thoughts are with connections.
  14. LOL that sounds like my one, umm haven't quite sorted that habit yet. More ground that's what she wants!
  15. Also stamping them with a wonderful temprement. Such laid back horses to work with and also seem to relax so well in their races. I have one and she would easily be the nicest horse I worked with temprement wise, totally unfazed in all situations.
