  1. I would not bet against it.
  2. Not on the Radio side of things, I think its been a big mistake, I would have expected things to have been better with it. I'm still puzzled as to how it came about, though I gather its pretty obvious. If net income is up year on year I'll take my hat off to them regardless of the radio.
  3. That statement alone shows you have little understanding of the customers that punt with the TAB, for someone who is so close to the core of the TAB that worries me!
  4. Either that or they more likely don't have the expertise or funding to be producing it, its a real cop out by TAB the radio situation. Besides that the codes are struggling to operate their own sports properly let alone broadcasting radio.
  5. I have to agree with him, I've been following cricket for years, but its now in the too hard basket and am not particularly interested in it because its yet another platform I've got to subscribe to so I can watch sport. Same goes with racing , since the radio has gone my spend would be a 5th of what it has been previously, no doubt its having an impact, but thats being negated by the Covid bounce if you like.
  6. Ok fair enough. You and I will not see eye to eye on the radio issue , but I still think thats a huge mistake that makes little sense. On your other note , we can expect to see stakes increased drastically in the near future? But under the proviso the codes have their houses in order? That's where you lose me, don't know about the other codes but I don't think the thoroughbred code is in any sort of order.
  7. Let's certainly hope youre right about the TAB performance, because with the loss of the radio etc etc etc I haven't heard too many wonderful things about it of late. But in all seriousness where exactly are we getting excited about the performance of the TAB, what parts should we be looking out for that will drastically alter the future of racing in this country? We all know about the cost cutting , that was a no brainer and I accept the current board inherited a mess , so what is it apart from the Covid bounce that is spinning your black circle?
  8. Wouldn't that have more to do with the club than the TAB?
  9. Good rider, one that gets off a horse and gives you good feedback imo and sorely needed in the CD.
  10. C'mon JJ, they have only done what the industry has been screaming at them to do for years (hats off for at least doing that) namely cutting costs. They have benefited greatly from the Covid situation in most aspects of the business. If they can't make that work we are really stuffed. Comparing the next year (Betting) after this one will be the make the more interesting comparison imo
  11. I'm always amazed how people seem stunned that a club with the best dates, best infrastructure, biggest population in the country & biggest races are able to get crowd support to their race days over the summer period. Is it because their other race days are so poorly patronised? Racing over this period is popular no matter where it is held, there is no secret formula to it. Couple this with the Covid environment and you have to be doing a very poor job to screw it up, hey even Rugby got the crowds back! Is there an argument to say that ARC underperform compared to other venues given the support they get from the industry etc?
  12. he got Mates at the races gary
  13. A lot of what you say will happen generically the way the industry is being operated, at any rate.
  14. Why send it out? Especially with all the trivial guff on it that we've all heard before.
  15. Well when youre dealing with the current lot running racing why would you bother. Good on them if they have.
  16. Maybe the speed maps don't work in the SI?
  17. It was difficult enough to know it was the Waikato Cup let alone look at the Stakes.
  18. Goo way to tell , have a look in the window, any gear still in there? If not it won't be back. The sport is in massive decline , only getting worse despite what the soothsayers are telling you, enjoy it while you can.
  19. Pretty sure they have been doing just that for over a year now.
  20. You just described some Big Stables in NZ. Fools like Blossom are so ignorant they look at Strike rates etc & think the game is a level playing field , when in reality they have no idea!
  21. What you want him to know how mad the people in the sport are ?
  22. Great news about the StrathAyr , certainly hope it comes off. But if you can't make MC day work in a club of that magnitude the industry is in real trouble.
