Not denying that at all FF, and if what you say is true, I may well like him, if I met him. Probably a case of a decent guy that took it too far, in the words of Chris Waller. ALF RISTON - Understanding, and moving on... -
Has the present racing minister done anything yet this term?

I'd say he pretty much rates him as a horseman Alf. If you met the guy you would like him .....he is one of the boys without any heirs or graces .....just a genuine good bloke. FF ...Hoping you understand. -

There are 2 aspects to what he said FF - which aren't represented in your original comments or out take. ALF RISTON - Telling the whole story ........., as it is. -

Well Alf .....I guess these comments by Waller sums the situation up well and truly. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ He's a genius horseman. I had the utmost respect for him and thought ‘how good is this guy,' and I wanted to know what made him work," Waller said. Waller has up to eight to 10 horses – including 2023 Melbourne Cup runner-up Soulcombe – in pre-training with Weir and he was glowing in his description of how his horses came back to him. "It's quite phenomenal what he does. I'll keep sending horses there (to Weir at Trevenson), I wish I could do more, he's a genius." ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That about says it all. FF ....Telling it as it is. -

I don't really want to get too deep into this, but just for the record, Wallers comments can't be taken as entirely supportive. "It's such a sad situation," Waller said, reflecting on the circumstances surrounding Weir's disqualification. "He had an addiction to winning races, but he didn't need to do what he did – and one day he needs to come out and explain that, which I hope he does. "Look, there probably isn't anybody in racing who doesn't know things like that were going on and had been going on. "He took it too far, he was obsessed with winning and with the pressure of results. "I just hope when he talks that he is understood. People who don't really understand racing in the community will probably never understand, but then if you come out and support him, it's like a black mark. "One thing is that you can see by the people who are supporting him, the respect he has in the industry and what a genius he was, sure – it was a big mistake." Before Weir's suspension, he and Waller were close rivals for the national trainer's premiership. The last time they were in competition, in 2017-18, Weir won with 489.5 winners, with Waller second on 337.5 but leading the metropolitan tally 252.5 to 207. Weir never completed the following season but still had 265 winners to February when his disqualification started. Waller – who rated Weir "my biggest threat as a horse trainer" – finished the season at the end of July with 339 in total. "He's a genius horseman. I'll keep sending horses there (to Weir at Trevenson), I wish I could do more, he's a genius." -

Memphis3 1,263 Posted 7 minutes ago I don’t think Scoobs is the only one on here with that opinion. The famous Jim Cassidy caught once with a jigger. Can’t recall the outcome. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Memphis ....The Pumper was using it on his wife ......she was under-performing 🤣. The result was that she turned around and whacked him in the head hahahaha! ....and then left him....so as you can see Jiggers don't always work. FF ....telling it like it is. -
You don't get it. He was dismissed on charges of corruption with the intent to influence the result of races. Possession of jiggers resulted in a four year ban and penalties for related offenses are still to come. This week I think. Guilty, whatever you might condone about the behaviour.

Don't forget the extra race meeting at Manawatu, hopefully they encourage more South Island visitors and then stay for a while further up at Cambridge for races, if they do it right a 2 day Manawatu meet attracts some from South Island , then they go up for the next two or three weeks at Cambridge and Auckland before heading back to Manawatu 2 day meeting and then back home. You could see these horse run 7 times in just over 5 weeks. That would make owners happy to get a return, especially if the horses are competitive enough. Trainers might have to be open to transferring to another trainer now and again if they too busy at home base.

WPH ....be careful not to upset the Scooby Doo .....you will end up with me in the 'Naughty boys' corner haha! But for the record you are 100% correct ....Waller and Maher both know that Weiry is a great horseman and was never trying to hurt defenseless animals .....and thats why his case has been dismissed thank god. FF ....Just telling the truth like WPH. -
Af least Auckland has the Blues to get excited about, then the ABs at Eden Park, all the hype over the Warriers, a bit of overkill, if they maintain their position on the table as last year that would be a major effort. And I'm not knocking them, just stating the obvious.
-
And kiwi Waller, Ciaron Maher plus others giving the mighty Darren Weir horses to break in and pre train....read Wallers summation of Darren. Would take his opinion over yours Scooby Doo any day of the week.

When they first started down the Strathayr road they should have started growing their own turf under the supervision of an expert of course.

FF ....NOT barred...so Scooby has a heart. -
