Mark Jones' original post on Facebook is spot on. Everything I've seen since is hysterical, uninformed, inaccurate, and in many cases defamatory. You might notice that he doesn't point the finger at any owners or trainers as being at fault, and neither should anybody else. -

For all of the wet weather and gloomy skies at Pimlico Race Course this week, the winds of change have been swirling in Maryland for much longer than a week or even a year. View the full article -

The first 2 year old to win the bonus this season only had the one start & then took off to Aussie. I can’t help but think that was money down the drain.

"Taking aim in the wrong direction" Can you elaborate as JJ Flash him/her was not taking aim at anybody . Heads should roll over this particular race! JMO mind

I see only 4 starting in the 2 year old race at Addington tonight. Obviously the bonus system is having no effect on starters. HRNZ should scrap this and either squirrel the money away for a rainy day or they could get hold of 30 or so mares & put them in foal to boost breeding numbers with the money saved. I have benefited myself from the bonus but lets face it, every owner wants to get their horse to the races as soon as they can regardless of whether there is a bonus or not.

@ chestnuts - in particular one on chromosome 1 showed a strong association (Fig 9). This region on chromosome 1 contains MYPN, a gene encoding for myopalladin, which is expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscles and has an important role in regulating actin organization in humans [40]. One previous study reported this gene as undergoing positive selection in horses - https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0218407 Japanese Thoroughbred Racehorses.

The review shall reveal all, but safe to say you once again, along with a quite a few others, are taking aim in the wrong direction. -
Best thing the Don could do is when he meets Putin, on neutral territory is he grabs him and hands him over to authorities, should have done that with fat fella from Korea when he had the chance but Putin won't front.

Interestingly I was just looking to see if noms were up for next Wednesday and what My horse might be facing , not up but , they now have separate mdn races showing , only open noms for rating 65 and above . A bit odd with them only running R65s and R75s with the odd R60 thrown in occasionally . Seems odd that they have waited till the last minute to change things , or maybe there were queries . Just a quick edit , I have had another look and they are now calling everything above mdns "Open handicaps" , were open entry , Awapuni next week still open entry . So why the change , maybe hoping to get higher rated horses perhaps . The whole landscape just seems a big jigsaw puzzle the way things are chopped and changed , with little or no input from participants , nor any transparency as to why these things are done .

If our horse makes the field in the last, then I will be there. She is No 22 and needs another 3 scratchings, which I doubt we will get. She is also in at Hawera on Sunday, but the weather isn't looking so good there. Funnily enough, I think that the most likely scenario is that her next start will be on the All Weather at Awapuni next weekend!

my latest posting may help https://thethoroughbredlink.com/2025/05/15/the-winning-chromosome/ with additional info/research to visit if you wish. A few comments on the earlier researchers and basis to System/theories. 1) a lot more sire line availability. 2)incorrect GSB records 3) TB History influencing today's Narrative has left or suppressed rather surprising detail Science 'speed gene "C" at the 2010 mark only tested 300 yr as a TB British thoroughbred - appears they did not bring in or excluded other material. They call the rest of it as Genetic Variants or rare....its very important to realize this element. H. Hampton/Clive Harper of 30yr experiences did account for so much but inability to further explain where scientific data & modelling was then not available. Same Ken McLean also a 30 + odd experience whose book Quest for a Classic Winner is wonderful. Many science journals have the ROH in-breeding depressions (not only Racehorse thoroughbreds actually) this 'appreciation' or work is the worst side to alleles, rather than revealing superior factors coming into probably an IP & commercial data base. Japan scientists and breeding is on to it.

When I saw late yesterday that HRNZ were launching an enquiry, I thought what a waste of time and money, it should be obvious who was responsible, but I have subsequently changed my mind. Who new what and when, should be the focus now, and whether the race conditions were the result of corruption or stupidity. I did watch the final, and it never occurred to me that the winner should not have been there, however everybody connected to the runners would have been aware, and no doubt the questions would have been directed at HRNZ before the race even took place.
