gubellini 4,010 Report post Posted August 27, 2020 At last Tim Aldridge has listened to trainers. I refer to Page 7 of today’s RaceForm- he has announced that NZTR will introduce a R74 grade from 19 September. Better late than never. Huey 2,037 Report post Posted August 27, 2020 Interesting that the fields in the NI appear to be a bit smaller this week, is that just because they are racing at New Plymouth and Tauranga or are numbers beginning to decline? Sent: Tuesday, 25 August 2020 4:48 PM A message from Tim Aldridge From Saturday 19 September Benchmark Rating 74 races will be introduced. This will give more options to trainers and to horses rated in the 60s and 70s. This does not detract from the intention and need to maintain healthy field sizes, strong wagering and comparable stake-levels. It will mean (aside from the Premier Day at Hawke’s Bay on 19 September) that alterations will need to be made to the programmes between that date and 30 September. It is hoped to have these changes made by Friday 28 August.

Not looking at the Avondale noms , especially the mdns , the 3 mdns could end up as 7 races going on numbers , although they haven't specified what their intentions are regarding splitting races .
