Well done Chiefs   and beaut effort today Cam :)  consistent selecting, well done ... I thought Secessio was going to bring home the bacon for me in the last but he just couldn't do it in time bless him :)   Still $23 for a place isn't to be sneezed at and tops up the coffers nicely :)   Might shout the Chiefs champagne on it if they keep up this good form! ;)

Race 10 - Caulfield R9

1st - 4 Lord Durante W-$9.30

2nd - 8 Secessio Q-$488.30

scr: 11,12,15,17

5 BLUES (1st)

$1270.00

4 points

0 CRUSADERS (3rd)

$309.00

0 points

Everyone missed in the last so the Blues ran out dominant winners but were denied a perfect result falling $50 shy of a team profit. Good effort nevertheless. Least said about the Crusaders' effort the better with just 6 collects from 100 tips. Gruff was Man of the Match while Mardy dons the MVP cap for the 'Canes Crusaders.

1 HURRICANES (4th)

$1372.80

2 points

Everyone missed in the last so the Chiefs took the spoils adding bonus points for a 4-1 margin and also a team profit which was also achieved by the Capital Lads who earned another for a better aggregate. Robert was the Waikato MVP while Cam was Man of the Match by a mile. Footnote - Maria missed a $2640 collect with Secessio failing to get up !!

$1019.00

2 points (x 2 Joker bonus) = 4 points

2 TURBOS (8th)

$1076.00

1 point

The Turbos all missed in the last although they did hang on for a bonus point for a higher aggregate, as Nekky made the final collect for the Stags who turned their 2 points into 4 with their Joker play. New addition Phil was MVP for the Turbos.

3 BARBARIANS (5th)

$1178.80

2 points

2 MAGPIES (9th)

$625.60

0 points

Everyone missed in the last. The Magpies started well but ran out of steam across the ditch enabling the Barbarians, led by Man of the Match Geoff, to notch a win. Ray was the Bay side's MVP. No bonus points were earned. Hope the 'Pies can break through next week.

$1190.20

3 points

1 FERDIES* (6th)

$729.40

0 (x 2 Joker bonus) = 0 points

The Ferdies all missed again in the last as Graeme found the Geelong grinder to ovetake Maurice and earn the Kauri Kats a bonus point for a 4-1 margin. The Ferdies, apart from MVP Maurice, were out of form and blew their Joker as a result. The Finals look a long way away.... Sarah was a dominant MVP for the Kats outfit.

The draw worked in our favour last week, but against us this week.   Our highest scorer played the Chiefs lowest scorer and our lowest scorer  came up against the Chiefs second worst score - a recipe for disaster.

In only 3.3% of pairings would the Chiefs have won 4-1 (as they did).  The Canes would have won the match in 56.7% of possible pairings.  Swings & roundabouts .....

The table after Round 6

1st 15 BLUES (7217.00)

2nd 14 CHIEFS (6904.40)

3rd 12 HURRICANES (6446.60)

4th 11 BARBARIANS* (5931.60)

5th 11 STAGS* (5788.00)

-----Finals Qualification Mark--------

6th 10 CRUSADERS (6498.80)

7th 7 KAURI KATS (6017.00)

8th 7 FERDIES* (5963.20)

9th 6 TURBOS (7016.80)

10th 4 MAGPIES* (6293.40)

The Blues win over the Crusaders, which cost the losers 3 places, kept them on top while the Chiefs maintained second spot with a comprehensive win over the Hurricanes who amazingly gained a place despite the loss thanks to their two bonus points. A win for the Barbarians saw them gain a place while their victims - the Magpies - dropped down a place to the cellar. Previous occupants the Kats made up 3 places while other winners - the Joker-fuelled Stags - made up 2 spots. Defeats for the Ferdies costs them two places and the Turbos lost a place also. The top 6 look like they have sorted themselves out as the main candidates for a Finals berth. Maybe a Joker play from the Kats and Turbos can get them into the action ?

We need every $ as if we finish on = points with the Baa's we could miss out on aggregate, Casper's score is $240-40, another $36.00 for our aggregate could be vital

Thanks

Sorry guys - fixed now and team tally adjusted also. Could be aggregate that decides that last finals berth - has happened before. Now go the Hurricanes !

Yep that was no try, but unfortunately the Canes still weren't good enough.  Didn't hold on to the ball enough and a few injuries hurt them - missed Ardie Savea, Skudder and Barrett not 100%.  Was cursing Julian Savea for shelling that try but he redeemed himself with that try saving tackle.

Stags were unlucky last week but got lucky this week - 60% of possible pairings would have seen the Turbos win (they seem to cop the bad luck every week).

Blues won 5-0 in 80% of scenarios.  Barbarians won 4-1 in 50% of pairings (3-2 in 45%).   Kats a bit lucky winning 4-1; 3-2 was the most common result and in 6.7% of possible pairings the Ferdies would have won 3-2.

All academic of course

Looking forward to that orbital theory Hesi!

Humble apologies team mates - was sure the entry saved OK this morning when I did my picks also on the other side. I knew I had a few winners so was looking forward to a good score. I'll be more careful next week

That no try gifted the Highlanders 7 points right on half time so they went in with an 8 point lead. The margin at full time.....Highlanders win by 7 points and the video ref probably thinks he's done a great job. There has to be some accountability by these blokes. It is not the only completely idiotic decision by video refs in the competition, there has been some absolute clangers. You have to wonder what they are on.

Ardie Savea was sorely missed and don't mention about Julian Sava bombing a certain try. Unbelieveable.

Absolutely gutted!!

Visions of Greg Norman in the 96 Masters and Team NZ were starting to come to mind Ian.

What happened, drop the whip?

Alwick

We started of down South and ended up at the Northland sand dunes, going up and down in the one spot,

What started out and promised to be a 8/10 pointer, finished up with us staring at a White Pointer, we were getting gobbled up at the rate of knots

Just keeping 5th spot warm at the minute, waiting for the next Joker in the pack.

Team NZ Hesi :o
