I am shocked and saddened at the news of Admire Rakti.  He was the most magnificent looking horse in this years Melbourne Cup.    Prior to the race, he looked a standout.  Next was definitely Red Cadeaux.  Not holding anything against the winner.  I picked him for the competition.
 
I agree with Hesi.  The autopsy finding will be of great interest.

I was in shock - went in to watch the next race and heard AR was dead!!!! So sad for connections in particular and to lose such a magnificent horse.... hope it's nothing underhand..........

The best time to do maintenance is on a public holiday, where there will be less people inconvenienced by the shutdown, though I'm sure you know this, then again.
I think you overestimate the amount of people that give a flying #### about horse racing, other than the big days nobody cares, well not as much as you think anyways.

What is to stop a jockey getting someone else to place their bets.  If they are so inclined.

Remove the betting option...It only invites corruption and bad behaviour by all concerned using it!

It is a shame the Museum at Ellerslie was closed, especially after my reasonable sized donation to it.   They must have all those records stacked away somewhere at Ellerslie in one of the rooms that never gets used.  Imagine the cost to make all the paper work digital.

I've walked into Ellerslie stabling area many times, usually following  behind a trainer  and carrying gear bags etc  so I guess it is assumed you are a stablehand doing that . On the other hand, have come in and  out of  the other end over course of a day and never been stopped to ask if I was owner whatever.  Will say again, stabling area there is a place where you really have to keep wits about you, no room for owners.  In fact my mate who has handled horses all his life says he feels claustrophobic and  very wary there,  as there is just no room to manouvre.  Seem to be within feet of  horses at all times and no where to move far away.

Big thumbs up to the club was a brilliant evening great mix of people well hosted by Karen and Aiden Rodley and Lee freedman was just superb with his insight and humour.

Berri - who are you?  rdtydy.  Who are you?.  The next time I go to Ellerslie I would love to come and speak to you face to face.

There is nothing stopping anyone from getting up close to a race horse on raceday - just not in the stable.  For very good reasons.

Unreal! What a bunch of 'pansies' we've become!' Because the 'poofters like the word 'queer' we're allowed to use it but nothing else. Take a hike! We are all so weak we let this crap go on every day ...  Makes my blood boil.

I love Steve Davis as a presenter; his knowledge of TB's, good pronunciation and self-effacing good humour make him probably my favourite. If you want tips, buy a Best Bets.
Des is also great as a presenter. I loved Alexander Fields 'back in the day.' He often had me in stitches with his droll humour, but he was a very canny, knowledgeable presenter - definitely a mistake to let him go. He was, I suspect, unfortunately not as 'slick and professional' in appearance as he was supposed to be. I loved him.

I'm no drinker - but that seems pretty harsh if he'd finished for the day. In any case, it was nice to hear his repentant ''take my punishment' attitude - is he growing up at last?

Great mare.  I am glad she lived a good life and is at rest on her owner/breeders property.
 
May I say, I remember Bubble who had potential I thought.  Sadly she did not live the good life of her dam but Brew, Bubbles little brother went on to win the Melbourne Cup.   
RIP Horlicks.   No one who loves this industry will forget you I am sure.
