  1. You can but the one thing I cant remember is the mares name (bit sad really) but they will know when she hits the race track.
  2. Yes I am one of those female owners and he is going to be a good horse when he learns the game
  3. I hae a half share in one that is a 2year old and I am looking forward to her hitting the race track
  4. Sulliman is still green and if you have a good look he wanted to dive in behind another horse up the straight if he hadnt done that he would have won.
  5. You blame the baby boomers for getting rich of the property market and not paying tax but isnt it really the politicians thats whythere no capital gains. What did The Prime Minister sell her Auckland house (I Think it was Auckland) for and what did she pay for it and how much profit did she make. Not only that look at the huge wage our politicans are getting and yet Winston elects to collect the super and when his name is realised because he got overpaid he decides to take them to court and who pays for that US of course. Thirdly everyone who elects to pays into kiwi saver and the employer has to pay 1-2 percent but with the politiians it is matched with what they pay into it (or a lot bigger percentage) and who pays that we do as tax payert. So the state of our country is not the fault of the greedy baby boomers who want to get ahead a secure a good life for their families it is the greedy politicans.
  6. They are designated a jumps venue for races not for schooling.
  7. Thanks for that I will have to see if I can get a copy
  8. Vicki Prendergast is a great trainer too. She is so great with the horses and really generally cares about them all. She only has a smalll team and I am the only one she trains for beside herself but she is real good
  9. Sure is brilliant ride on my horse on Saturday to win
  10. JJ went down there to buy that horse becasue it the same family as Go Paddy who he had raced
  11. Auret 3.82 Lock 4.52 Te Akau and Baker both in 6 Rogerson 13
  12. We have the Karake 2 and 3 year old but to quaily for that you have had to purchase the horse through the Karaka sales. Sometimes there are really good horses around that were bred not purchased so then they could enter as no sales restriction
  13. They do have the asian expats but they dont go to the races they go to Sky City Casino

    TE RAPA

I dont agree. Te Rapa serves a purpose that the track can normally handle rain with the sand. Cambridge is a training track and that is it really you have no grandstands or anything and it is a tight turning track.so to consider keeping that and converting it to an all weather would cost a lot more. Matmata I think is ideal for the all weather. As for closing Waipa and Te Aroha well Waipa struggle to run a meeting as most are in the winter months and it does get very wet or if it a dry year gets very hard. For Te Aroha i may be biased as my father was involved in the late 60s and early 70s. I am also now on the committee. It serves a purpose as it does take a lot of the jumps meetings that no one else wants. If you come to our breeders day you would see the huge crowd we draw not so much when we had to transfer to Te Rapa. A lot of our industry days we can take 50 to 60000 on course because we have groups like Donogheys Baileys and Ecolab who fill the Battle Heights lounge up with 200 to 300 so therefor NZTR are getting good money from us over the totes. . Even some of the Sunday Jumps meeting take more than an average industry day meeting. What we need on course in people and punters to contribute to industry and I feel Te Aroha do that. We encourage people to come to our race meetings even though we are unfortunate not to have more than one Saturday. As i said yes I am biased because my my families long association with Te Aroha but one a nice day it is a lovely course with the great view of the mountain.
  15. Thanks I was operating of microsoft edge and had to change back to chrome to get in
  16. Got email to say I need to do my mare return and that I can do it on line. Tried but cant find it anywhere. Can anyone help. Very frustrating
  17. Ok now you stated that these track need to go. Now back you statement up with the reasons why. I will start Te Rapa has alot of meetings and yes on days where there are big races they manage to draw a crowd but look at Tuesday the stand was empty. I went towatch my horse one mid week day and there was only 2 people in the stand beside the 6 syndicate members i was with. Te Aroha has alot of jumps races so if you canned that track who would take them not Te Rapa because dont want to have jumps races. Look at alll that money that was spent on the inside of the track at Te Rapa to have trials and how many trials have they had. There is far too much money being wasted on the select few elite clubs and therefor the smaller clubs and struggling because of this.
  18. Well I think the all weather should be in Matamata. Reasons They are the biggest trainig centre in the Waikato but not sure about how many train in Cambridge They have done a fair bit of ground work about putting in an all weather a few years ago As far as location for other course if abandoned meeting there is an hour to Rotorua, 45 minutes to Tauranga, 30 minutes to Te Aroha which of all these clubs including Matamata race through the winter anyway. When you think about it it is really the winter months is wherethe majority of cancellations occur. Te Rapa doesnt have alot of winter meetings but their structure of their tack is in good order. Cambridge doesnt race so why go there. There track is a tight turning track anyway. Elleslie is not in the Waikato buy they are closing to spend a reasonable amount to up grade their track in the next few month so then if you turn around and put an all weather in there then money spend on the up grade would have just been wasted. Elleslie and Te Rapa have got a bigger pull of people but if you look at their industry days they get very few compaired to some of the other clubs I have mentioned. If you take into account the travel time form the 4 clubs to either Ellseslie or Waikato that just adds a lot extra cost to the owners once again. An hour is nothing compared to say 3hrs from Rotorua to Ellselie. I dont think centralisation is the key because in the bigger areas there is alot more on offer so people choose what they want to do. In the smalller areas there isnt so much choice. Ifyou look at Matamata Breeders Day and Te Arohas Breeders day they get a huge amount of people on course. Also look at Taupo at Xmas time once again there was a huge crowd. The more accesible without huge travel the all weather is the better for all involved in the industty I reckon anyway
  19. The meeting on Tuesday was very dismal and would have cost the industry money. Open 2100 with 3 horses in it is a waste of time. There was no one there. As for Saturday they still havent sold all there areas as Ken stated that when interviewed. As for the AW I would be surprised if it went to Te Rapa. I reckon it will go to Matamata the biggest training centre in the Waikato
  20. Really. From what I heard the 2nd sale some people werent that happy and after looking at todays there were alot ow withdrawals and really the prices were not that great. Was good for the stud guys who got there horse in 1st dale but the little guys didnt get alot of good results
  21. He done it before and now he is doing it again just talks everything up just to get the votes. If you voted for him you should have known better by now. Not even his electric voted for him so that tells you alot.
  22. Each to there own. I like thoroughbred racing you like harness race. My choice and your choice it a free world
  23. I wasnt replying to Sharrocks comment thought I was replying to Timon comment. Yes there certainly alot of clubs around there and probably too many how many have closed and how many of those clubs have suffered because they are not classed as a strategic club so get alot less portion of the pie. Most race course are similiar in size so they take the same money to maintain. If they dont get enough to ssurvive what are they suppose to do get out there and fundraise to get there amendaties up to date while the bigger clubs just sit there and watch the bigger bucks from NZTR role in. You could say close some of these down and maybe yes perhap some should but how many of them are training tracks where a trainer would then have to move to make his living in his chosen path. For NZTR to make money they need to get punters on course and to get punters on course the clubs need to be offered incentives or you will see days like at Elleslie and Te Rapa that dont have alot in attendance but get the bigger money anyway.
  24. The jockeys get 162 including GST. I dont have a problem with that at all he is a trotting man that was saying we dont pay our jockeys enough and so I just wanted to compare
  25. I had someone say that the Thorughbred racing Industry was slack because of the amount we paid our jockeys and the percentage of stakes money won that they get. I know this person is involved in harness racing but wouldnt declare what harness drivers received so could someone please clarify for me the amount they get paid per drive and the percentage they get of stakes money won.
