I love the comps, all formats are good. Shorter might be better if I had a preference, and solo or pairs. I also really like the one horse per race option when offered. Having said that, these are free comps with betting prizes attached so honestly I am grateful for whatever is put on. Thanks heaps. -

The early entries are through for the opening day of the Royal Ascot meeting next Tuesday. The ground is currently Good, Good to Firm in places but rain is forecast later in the week and showers over the weekend. The opening day has three Group 1 races. Queen Anne Stakes - 1600m Straight The traditional curtain raiser for the older milers is often a follow on from the Lockinge at Newbury and the winner, second, fourth, fifth and seventh re-oppose. AUDIENCE did it well but the circumstances dropped perfectly for him and it won't be so easy this time. INSPIRAL, who was fourth, will have come on a ton for the run and is a huge danger. I'd be worried about CHARYN on quick ground (ditto for BIG ROCK). FACTEUR CHEVAL won the Dubai Turf over a turning 1800m so has to have claims and the very lightly-raced MALJOOM, arguably desperately unlucky in the 2022 St James's Palace, is another fascinating entry. King Charles III Stakes - 1000m Straight ASFOORA will find the ground much more to her liking than at Haydock but this is a stiff 1000m. BIG EVS looked good at York but this is the big leagues. KERDOS. REGIONAL and ROGUE LIGHTNING also come on from the Temple at Haydock and REGIONAL could be the one but this is a very open race. St James's Palace - 1600m Round Known as the Ascot 2000 Guineas, unlike Newmarket, it's round a turn. A re-match between English 2000 Guineas winner NOTABLE SPEECH and the runner up (and subsequent Irish Guineas winner) ROSALLION. Throw in the likes of HAATEM, RIVER TIBER and DARLINGHURST and it looks one of the best races of the year so far, never mind the week. The supporting Group 2 is the Coventry for the juveniles over 1200m. 31 entries and it's the usual quality with most of them having won and those who haven't shaping with huge promise. Final decs on Sunday, full preview Monday.

One of the best weeks of horse racing anywhere in the world but then I would say that, wouldn't I? Here is where I will put all the previews, reviews, comments, analysis and please feel free to chip in your two cents, five dollars or whatever. Hopefully the racing will be shown on Trackside and if some of you are night owls, I'll be trying to watch live through the week (NOT every day) so any thoughts are welcome.

It'll be interesting to see if any of the Ascot staying race winners (plenty of handicaps and non-handicaps at 2400m and further next week) will be picked up by Australian interests with a trip to Flemington in mind.

He's had three juvenile winners so far. He's standing at Haras d'Etreham in Normandy for 22,500 euros which is a fair price for a freshman sire. The most exciting of the juveniles looks to be ELECTROLYTE, who won a maiden at Ayr. He was bought out of the breeze ups (Arqana I presume) by Wathman Racing who have decided to bulild their juvenile squad from breeze up purchases. They paid 450,000 euros for SHAREHOLDER, a colt by the American sire, Not So Lucky. The colt won on debut at Beverley and may go for the Norfolk at Ascot next week. As for ELECTROLYTE, he's out of a Royal Applause mare called Bibury - her most successful progeny was CALDERON, who raced in Group 2 company in Britain as a 3-y-o in 2016 and got to within four lengths of the mighty Almanzor at Deauville. CALDERON raced for Richard Hannon but in late 2017 was sold to Australia and was trained by Tony McEvoy and was, to be blunt, useless. CALDERON was by Lope de Vega and I don't think the firm Aussie turf would have suited. ELECTROLYTE looks all speed to me and has a Coventry entry next Tuesday. The other one in my notebook is AFENTIKO, out of an Acclamation mare. I liked the way he ran home at Windsor over 1200m and is another who could be anything but I doubt we'll see him at Ascot. As an aside, Hello Younzain's full brother, JEHANGEER, was gelded after running third in a Newmarket handicap last month. He's running at 93 so if they can get some improvement he might be Group 3 class in time.

Imagine - beaten by a woman Gruff !! (what, with all those issues you warned me against betting on them)😀 Pretty tough pill to swallow I must admit, surrendering a lead of that magnitude 🥴 Despite your advice I continue to enjoy betting on the LPGA. Had a lazy 5 on Hinako Shibuno to win the US Open with a return of $2k (tantalizingly close in 2nd spot) and had Furue to win last weekend for yet another second. Hope one swings your way soon. Cheers, Phil -
Seeing your here Stodge what about Hello Youmzain. Reports trickle down here his youngsters are firing. Have Cambridge Stud found another Almanzor albeit HY looks like a sprinting type

Have seen nothing in the news even though he lost an 8 shot lead and beaten by a woman 11 shots behind costing me $829..... missed 3 putts under 2 feet in the process... has the dubious honour as the Worlds worst Choker BUT as number 2 in the race to DUBAI has the game..... Has beaten Mcilroy in a playoff in 2019 to win maiden event but somehow lost a sitter....weird
