  1. My favourite was John Bary's 'quote', "one AT one back". FFS.
  2. Kent

    Bonneval

A lazy $290,000 for the Everest win. Not bad.
  3. I received a prompt reply from the helpdesk, saying they'll keep my account open 18 months - 2 years, in which time they hope to have all this resolved. We'll see I guess!
  4. Can someone please post the tab.co.nz customer service email? I can't get on anything tab.co.nz-related from oz. I come home a bit & am hoping when I am in NZ for holidays I can access my account, or if they've shut it. Cheers
  5. I hope they get a license, bet365 etc I believe do. They are even blocking the tab.co.nz site?? I cannot even get onto the site (from NSW).
  6. I was really saddened to hear of his passing today - terrible news. Thoughts & prayers go out to his family R.I.P

  8. All the best David. An end of a truely great era. I was only young getting into the gee gees 30+ years ago in the CD. He's probably the last of those jockeys to retire. Lots of happy memories
  9. I agree, and pardon my ignorance in asking this, but is it a case of different jurisdictions? NSW v VIC so they could say it's not relevant what penalties Racing Victoria impose. I agree, I don't know how this can be as bad as what Oliver did.
  10. Crikey. Over here on Sky they are saying he will head back to NZ. They also said they'd appeal as it "seems harsh"
  11. According to this, he has pleaded guilty. Now we await the penalty.... http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/superracing/james-mcdonald-pleads-guilty-to-astern-betting-charge/news-story/703675db6cdc97f603f5a877b148ba4c
  12. Unbelievable. Feeling for the owners, trainers & jockeys. Hoping it's safe to race on!
  13. Would love to have Tony back doing the CD meets. ALL the CD meets. Can only but hope there is some truth to the whisper...
  14. This from punters.com.au. I wonder what it means. Punter Anthony Gardiner has been warned off by Racing NSW after refusing to be interviewed in regards to the James McDonald bet inquiry. The warning off means Gardiner is not be permitted to attend any racecourses, place a bet on thoroughbred races or have an interest in any thoroughbred race horses. Racing NSW said Gardiner's warning off would be effective immediately and remain in place until such time that he attends Racing NSW to be interviewed and provide the required information. Top jockey James McDonald stood down from riding earlier this week after stewards charged him under AR 83(d) for having an interest in a bet on Astern, who he rode to victory on debut at Randwick in December 2015. Racing NSW Chief Executive Mr Peter V’landys said Gardiner's refusal to be interviewed obstructed stewards in investigating serious breaches of the Rules of Racing. "Racing NSW is on record time and again as saying integrity in this industry is paramount," Mr V'landys said. "Accordingly, no individual’s interest should outweigh the confidence of the public, and particularly punters, in the integrity of the industry. “Racing NSW has zero tolerance for those that obstruct and hinder the maintenance of the integrity of thoroughbred racing in New South Wales." A big punter, Gardiner is well-known in tennis circles in Sydney earning him the nickname 'the tennis player' and is also believed to play golf regularly with some jockeys. McDonald was interviewed on Tuesday after Racing NSW acted on intelligence received from police before the jockey stood down voluntarily from riding while stewards continued their investigation. "Racing NSW has a memorandum of understanding with a number of law enforcement agencies both federally and in this state and we meet from time to time to share intelligence between the agencies and this was a consequence of that memorandum of understanding," Chief Steward Marc Van Gestel said earlier this week. "We obviously collect our own betting information and intelligence along the way and this culminated in a situation where we were of the opinion we needed to interview James (McDonald) in respect to the intelligence we received." The investigation is expected to take a number of weeks to reach its conclusion. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter
  15. Hopefully that is just steam/hot air (you know how Aussies blow - just look at their cricketers). Hopefully it's just someone with a grudge or a nasty rumour. Wait and see, I hope it's just all settled quickly, and favorably, for JMc.
  16. They are alleging it was $1,000.
  17. I agree. Theyre saying if he cooperates it would bring that 2 year sentence down IF he's found guilty. He *was* exceptionally excited crossing the line...." Fairfax Media understands stewards had their interest sparked by McDonald's celebratory punching into the air as he hit the line but until Tuesday they had no evidence to suggest why he might have been so excited".
  18. Congratulations to David - a fantastic & committed rider and a terrific ambassador for NZ racing. I hope he keeps riding! Seems as good as he was 30 years ago!
  19. What a shame. A real loss for NZ racing, particularly the Central Districts. If I recall correctly, his predecessor, A. Bright, was not treated all that well by those up the food-chain either. It's a real shame Tony is leaving, but life is too short to be treated like that, so good on him for putting himself first. Gee, what big shoes to fill! Who will be calling the Wellington Cup next year? We will all get used to it, but I, for one, will feel a little bit hollow come Trentham's Cup meeting and someone else is calling them home...(no offence to whoever that will be)! Tony has made that meeting his own. Good luck to you Tony, I hope the industry doesn't lose you completely!!
  20. Lots of luck to you Lisa!! Keep kicking home those winners.
