Baz (NZ) reacted to nomates in Synthetic trials cancelled, again, again and again...
I'm sure that I read that a trainer/s at Awapuni said that they can't work their horses on the poly every day as it isn't good for their joints .
And I know that many of those Awapuni trainers had been utilizing Foxton and Levin for grass gallops during the reconstruction .

Baz (NZ) reacted to nomates in Project Stamina
Are these the industry leaders and advisors that are employing a consultant , isn't that just a vicious circle .
Why does our industry never learn .
Not holding any hope of your last sentence coming to fruition .
-
Baz (NZ) reacted to nomates in Project Stamina
You would have liked to think that with all the money poured into wages that there was enough knowledge within both those codes to come up with the strategy themselves .
Perhaps it's an admission that actually the amount of racing knowledge within the industry leaders is actually limited .

Baz (NZ) reacted to nomates in Project Stamina
FFS , I need a stamina project to survive all these open letters coming out from the head bangers .
Amazingly nearly everybody whom I know has been banging on about future proofing the industry for over a decade .
Thank fuck they have finally caught up .
Hopefully I'm not a bowl of ashes before something productive comes of this speech .

I know it's boring but I find simultaneously humorous and sad in equal measures , but just in case someone wanted to know .
RICCARTON TRIALS ON THE SYNTHETIC NEXT TUESDAY HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT ENTRIES .
I wonder if they need to employ a consultant to tell them that they need to stop programming them .

I can think of a few words not used yet...most not allowed...get it through your heads...TRAINERS HATE SYNTHETIC TRIALS...please I hope it sinks in!!!!!!

And again , Cambridge trials for tomorrow canned due to insufficient entries .
What more can be said than has already been said .

Baz (NZ) reacted to We're Doomed in I'm Shocked..
To be totally honest, I am quite shocked.
I looked at the SI programmes yesterday for the next few weeks and the thing that stood out the most was the lack of a rating 65 1,600m at Oamaru, and no rating 65 mile at the following AWT meeting either.
This is the class and distance that has numerous ballots and eliminated horses every meeting in the South. There are heaps of horses in this class desperate for a start. Even more bizarrely Oamaru has probably the best 1,600m start point in the country and yet it only had one race programmed over that distance, an open race.
I looked on loveracing a minute ago and low and behold they have added a rating 65 mile to Oamaru. Either someone at NZTR is reasonably alert or a switched on trainer has pointed it out to them.
At least it is a glimmer of a shining light.

What annoys me is that you cannot use the form from overseas bookmakers anymore either. Then they serve up this nonsense. Plus loveracing site is not kept up to date.
Crazy really that they expect us to punt more with less.

Baz (NZ) reacted to We're Doomed in TAB Comments.
They are so bad these days they have become a total embarrassment. It's a total arrogance to put that sort of stuff out and expect people to take any notice of them. There used to be a certain humour in how bad the Aussie form-lines were, but now it is just cringeworthy.

Race 1 Ruakaka, Beat of the Sun trained by Donna Logan. "Drawn out but is a local." Someone is well behind the eight ball.

Sort of giving but taking a little back . I honestly think he brings up some very interesting stuff .
And at worst I can read what he writes and can get to sleep better .

This thread just proves that nothing that stays the same changes .
25 years on and if anything we've gone backwards , go figure .
Good on you Meomy , even a clock hits the right number twice a day .

Baz (NZ) reacted to Pak Star in Egmont...Saturday.
Im giving $1.70 cancelled before start. $1.90 cancelled mid card. $7.00 full days racing.
Can confirm that numerous Aus bookmakers are offering 10% better odds across all options.

Baz (NZ) reacted to nomates in NZTR Board and Staff Please Read
Definitely the huge increase in top end stakes is a huge smoke and mirrors strategy from the boys at the top .
What they can never say is that those stakes were achieved from any great strategy that they produced , it was purely handshake payments to get a company in the door . As we all know the defining season will be the one where they are living off a reduced income , then the reality kicks them in the arse . It will be interesting to see how many of the present management team are still on board when that rolls over .
The Entain money is no better than the A/W tracks , all pants and no substance . All the money has achieved is allow a few at the top to put more than usual in the coffers , sure there have been some that have done better but no where near the top guys , the same guys who would have been producing the same horses at the same tracks irrespective of the big stakes increase .
I have no faith that there is any awareness from those charged with managing our industry that there is still a great disparity . A disparity that continues to leak participants out of the industry .
Don't get me wrong , I think we are stronger in a lot of areas than we have for a long time , but so much of what is done just seems to be a "let's throw some shit at the wall and see what sticks", but a comprehensive strategy seems as far away as ever .
As you mentioned it has not stopped horses going to Aus , good luck to them , but as we know they are still taking NZ form to Aus and the translation is much tougher .
I always live in hope that they will pleasantly surprise me .
