  1. I totally agree. Imagine the service we would get if the TAB had some competition. Slow and fat, time for that post Christmas diet and fitness regime, because as they get older they get slower and fatter!!
  2. There really are some sick puppies on here, horse bashers who just can't wait to climb in. The Kawi lot have gone remarkedly quiet, no doubt now they are the Hoof lot. Thinking about it I suspect they are people who all their life have wanted to own a decent horse, one that gets a little hype, good enough to cross the Tasman and have it in for those lucky enough to. I know I have wanted the same thing, but don't get all jealous having to knock the tall poppy. They seem to get their jollies from saying he is no good and I told you so. You see with me I love watching these horses, as do others here, so please get your pleasure elsewhere. The funny thing is we know what you are all like, those of you who own shares in horses wish they were shares in the horses you knock and the rest who don't share in a horse wish you had a share in these. Pathetic. You should cross over the fence and enjoy watching the Kawi's and the Hoof's like the sane amongst us.
  3. As you know I don't think Matt has a serious charge to answer for, a minor one if they must, but I do get annoyed when racing participants engage top lawyers who manipulate events to suit personal needs. We saw how much bad publicity the guity drug taker Lisa Cropp did with a good legal team. Matt you should have done a Lisa Allpress, what a totally professional jockey she is, fronted (get the second best legal team if need be) and find out where you stand. You shouldn't be able to engage legal representation so you can ride in Australia innocent or guilty. I love our NZ horses crossing the ditch, but for your manipulation I hope they both fail.
  4. Liz, the Inglis sales moved for some reason this year as a one off, so Karaka needed to move, back to it's usual spot next year. Wellington moved because of the 7's, whether the 7's last in Wellington is anyones guess, but suspect Trentham will keep the 3 Saturday dates, especially with the success of the Woodville meeting on the Wellington Anniversary Monday. You are right about the previous Marton Cup (Telegraph) days being wet more often than not. Trentham in their wisdom watered Thursday night before (Telegraph) with rain predicted to ensure that tradition continued (brilliant).
  5. Mime never looked like winning on Saturday, bring back Matt. I cannot believe the trainers and/or the owner sacked him, I hope the horse doesn't get to see the winners circle again until Matt is rightly reinstated.
  6. John Magness may be a good sponsor of the show, but spare me blind, he needs cranking up, new energiser batteries inserted and some life added when he gives the deals. He should spend 30 to 40 seconds chatting to Des then hand over to Adrienne to do the rest. John I am sorry but you can be worse than most of the talk back folk and that is saying something!!

    Wow

I saw the Steve Davis show where he interviewed Michael Wallace. There is no doubt he is a very astute bloodstock buyer/adviser, whose international track record is impressive. If he advised highly on a foal from a first season sire, he would have had his reasons, no doubt had great confirmation with a female family to match. These guys live and die on their results.
  8. A good point about certain stables having more bad barrier horses per runners than other stables who have spent the time and effort educating horses. Could be time to fine stables whose statistics in this area are poor. The well mannered horses have to stand in the barriers for longer than they should have to.
  9. Jason Collett decided last year to take on a personal trainer and get really fit and well done it has worked. He is getting the riding results and top trainers talking positively about his riding, therefore getting the better rides and results. I really like the young man, don't mind when he is riding one I am backing. Jason, keep up the efforts with the fitness trainer, paying definite dividends for you.
  10. I am not sure who you are specifically referring to, but surely not Andrew "Butch" Castles, who is great on Weigh In. His knowledge of racing and horses is second to none on that show, Jason Tan yes is good. Keep in mind Butch when you watch Ken Rutherford next week, I may just watch the replays with the sound off. Perhaps sound on Jason Tan, mute Ken Rutherford. Butch ignore the knockers, part of it will be a hangover from your Ellerslie days, a lot don't like Headquarters.
  11. Number 1 auctioneer, hmmm, he is the Chairman, he is good and out of respect he was always going to do that lot. The potential buyers are not people you can Steve Davis (the best) extract additional bids from. Just like horses different people have different views, as too the best austioneer, but all I know is talking with breeders the most common theme is "I hope Steve Davis sells my horses". They get him to the Oz sales as well, the man can sell.
  12. Sorry I lied to you, just checked the tape again, it is every 20 lots religiously.......so I am human after all.
  13. They auction in lots of 10, so no subbing, you will notice if you watched the screening, until it cut out, every 10 they change to the next auctioneer.
  14. I can be slow, but if to quote you "...majority of horses are maidens and will always remain a maiden", how will increasing stakes on maiden races help the owners of these horses?
  15. A few years ago Clubs were penalised on Turnover when races started over a minute past publiced start time. With the changes to funding that has occured since, the diligence to start times seems to have gone out the window.
  16. Good points you make about Vic, NSW and Qld, except our 4.5m population is spread North Cape to Bluff with many race tracks dotted everywhere. Look how many major tracks in each of those OZ states and how close the total populations of each are to those main tracks.
  17. Hmmm hope you are right. The landscape may have changed. When our stayers were at the height of their reputations, most farmers had a horse or three roaming around their property taking the necessary time to grow and mature. The farming landscape changed and no longer are horses roaming the hills. Also trainers will confirm owners no longer have patience, they want an early return on their investment. So can we get Wellington Cup fields of the past, or are we resigned to small fields full of mostly low rating horses like this year?
  18. Sound Proposition could do well under Weir's care as well.
  19. I thought that summed us all up..."Punters & Drinkers". LOL
  20. I always knew it was the letter of the alphabet that determines the order (broodmare), however what I don't know is does the letter roll to the next one each year or is the letter randomly drawn each year?
  21. Aidan Rodley tripped over the main electrical cord hurridly changing into his shorts getting ready for happy hour!!
  22. Steve Davis is an auctioneering genius, if I am selling he is the only one I want and if I am buying I want him locked in the toilet!! The man can extract money out of wallets easier than a beautiful naked 20+ year old young lady holding a cold six pack!!
  23. I am sorry but did you actually read what you submitted? If over 40% of those horses didn't go offshore our whole industry, starting with the breeding industry, would collapse. So many races are sponsored by studs, who wouldn't put a cent into sponsorship if that 40% offshore didn't occur. I have yet to get to the most outragous comment "...rivalled Oz stakes wise or even got close"....that can not and will never happen, we are a small country of 4.5m people or similar, that can never think about rivalling Oz in stakes.
  24. Rogie could go head to head with all on this site and would come out streets ahead of most and for the few that could logically debate with him, would at least come out even. He has achieved just about everything possible within this industry, has huge respect, wears his heart on his sleeve, has got more new participants into racing than almost anyone else. He is flamboyant, expressive, fun, maybe at times a little extravagant, but a dumb man he is most definitely not. We could do with a few more Rogie's, well done that man.
  25. Great horse, but suspect we may not see him at all in NZ this campaign. C F Orr first up?
