And some examples of what their views are on various subjects like AWTs, allocation of stakes money, handicapping, programming, esp in the SI, 2YO racing, closing of tracks, state of remaining tracks, the new dates structure, slot races, sales races etc. I realise there isn't really a racing media in NZ anymore so they may well have put our press releases etc that don't get mentioned anywhere, but at least they could share their thoughts on sites like this one. -
Not sure that is what he meant but probably pretty accurate…. “I came to the role with a clear view on the challenges facing the industry, and I leave knowing I left nothing on the table," he said.

Can you give us some examples of its effectiveness in the last decade please Neil? I might even rejoin myself if you can. Thanks.

Sad to note the passing last Friday of former jockey Ian (Jock) Rowe at the age of 73. He and Nigel Landers were both apprenticed to Matamata trainer Clarry Robinson at the same time. In recent years Ian had been driving trucks in Australia. His biggest wins were the 1969 Winter Oats on Ramlegh, the 1970 Ralph Somers Memorial at Te Aroha, the 1971 Rotorua Cup on Dark Knowledge and the 1971 Taranaki and Caltex Gold Cups at New Plymouth on Dunmoy. He made history on the 5/5/73 when he won the first figure eight steeplechase at Trentham on Transfusion. His best season was 1969- 70 when he won 21 races finishing 5th on the Apprentice Table. His first win was on Chief Warrior at Thames on the 16/9/67.

Horse racing, like most things, becomes someone's passion after being introduced to it by a parent. That is no different for Lance Gasaway, co-owner and co-breeder of Mystik Dan, who is set to run in the Kentucky Derby May 4 at Churchill Downs. View the full article -

I resent that remark deeply. There is an Owners Fed here that apart for the paid One Admin that has worked tirelessly unpaid since I have been involved. Give me your name WD and I will pay to join you up to your regional association. if you are a bit short I can fix the 60 bucks annual sub for you. You could make a difference! Neil M

Given their high salaries hopefully there's little chance we will get that team coming here. Out of their depth': Owners boss applauds exit of Racing Victoria CEO Outgoing Racing Victoria CEO Andrew Jones. By Matt Williams 05:24pm • 28 April 2024 2 Comments The boss of the Victorian Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners Association says the resignation of Racing Victoria CEO Andrew Jones was a long time coming. In a statement on Sunday, association chairman Jonathan Munz said it was "ridiculous" that Jones, who had been in the role for 21 months, was in his $800,000-a-year job for so long. Jones announced his resignation on Friday without an end date. Aaron Morrison will take over as interim CEO in the "near term". "Jones and his team were completely out of their depth and, apart from fundamental management errors, were seen as pushing a misconceived radical strategy parading as innovation," Munz said in the statement. "They were trying to change things that did not need changing, while ignoring and getting the basics wrong. This alarmed industry investors and participants and caused controversy. "Jones' departure is a big win for racing." Munz, who had been a strong critic of Jones and the board for their "insufficient racing knowledge and lack of commercial expertise" claimed the board "enabled" Jones for "way too long" and did not listen to pleas for change from investors, race clubs and participants. "Indeed, it has been observed that in many ways the RVL board members were more culpable than Jones," he said. "They should have heeded advice from the industry to sack him almost a year ago. It is also an insult to our intelligence for RVL to be thanking Jones and praising him for his past work on his departure, when he clearly did a terrible job." READ | Analysis: ‘Serious ramifications' loom with Gillon McLachlan appointment Munz said it showed why major board changes were necessary. "Unfortunately, the delay in refreshing the board for almost 12 months created a power vacuum which has been bad for the industry," he said. Andrew Jones (right) during The Festival of Racing Launch at Port Melbourne Yacht Club in February. "However, pressure makes diamonds and hopefully the new board and CEO will end the dysfunction, bring the industry together and return us to competence and normality." Jones said on Friday: "Having served under two chairmen, my resignation makes way for the new chair and board to select a new CEO to take Racing Victoria forward into the future." "I came to the role with a clear view on the challenges facing the industry, and I leave knowing I left nothing on the table," he said. "I thank my team at RV for their enormous efforts over the past two years which include the delivery of more than $2b in future funding for racing, an improved schedule, a dedicated media business to grow the sport, world class equine welfare policies, increased support for jockeys and trainers, and the first significant club merger in decades." READ | Freedman's unveil import with ‘better form' than Cup winner In an interview with industry broadcaster RSN on Friday, acting chairman Mike Hirst admitted that Jones' "appetite for change … was perhaps greater than the appetite for change the industry had." "Andrew has come to the view that given we're going to have a new chair, and essentially a new board with three new directors, perhaps the time for a reset is now," Hirst said. Jones' departure has called into question the future of others on the executive team appointed by Jones, including former North Melbourne CEO, Ben Amarfio (Executive GM – Customer), and executive GM of racing, Matt Welsh. Former AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan remains the frontrunner to become RV's new chairman in the next few weeks. Racing Minister Anthony Carbines will sign off on the new chairman, and two other new board members, to replace the positions held by Brian Kruger, Mike Hirst, and Greg Nichols.

Final declarations through for day one of the Punchestown Festival where the ground has been downgraded to Yielding after some rain last night. Nine go in the Champion Novices Hurdle over 3250m. Champion trainer in both Britain and Ireland, Willie Mullins, dominates the race with five of the runners including the second favourite, MYSTICAL POWER, who won less than three weeks ago at Aintree. However, his conqueror from the Supreme at Cheltenham, SLADE STEEL, re-opposes and it's hard to see why the Cheltenham form should be reversed. FIREFOX was third at Cheltenham and runner up at Aintree so splits the difference but having failed to beat the front two, it's a nig ask to see him reversing the form but Punchestown is a far more galloping track than Aintree (there are parallels with Cheltenham albeit it's the other way round) and FIREFOX could have his day. Nine also go in the Champion Chase over 3250m and CAPTAIN GUINNESS, who may or may not have been a fortunate winner at Cheltenham, has a real chanc eof following up. He holds GENTLEMEN DU MEE on Cheltenham favour while I fear the ground has gone against my old mate, BANBRIDGE, as it did at Cheltenham. DINOBLUE was no match for EL FABIOLO in the Dublin Chase and was for me a little disapppinting when going down to LIMERICK LACE in the Mares Chase at Cheltenham. I can't have her as favourite on that and I think CAPTAIN GUINNESS may be the one. Eight go in the Champion Novices Chase over 5000m. MONTY'S STAR was runner up in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham and this isn't the strongest renewal of this race. He holds the likes of SANDOR CLEGANE and AMERICAN MIKE and has more to fear from SPILLANE'S TOWER who won well over Easter at Fairyhouse and while the latter hasn't raced in Grade 1 company, could take advantage of this weak race. Further ahead, the final day feature next Saturday is the Champion 4-y-o Hurdle which has attracted a strong entry including SIR GINO and KARGESE, first and second in the Aintree equivalent and NURBURGRING, who was fourth in the Triumph at Cheltenham and will appreciate this more galloping track.

Well as we bowl into the new week of the TRUMP trial the prosecution will shoot itself in the foot again by introducing witnesses to sink its case same as the Harvey Weinstein prosecution team did. The problem they have is this....... (a) Catch and kill isn't a crime ....so one shot in the foot. (b) Paying 'hush money' isn't a crime.... two shots in the foot. So in all honesty there isn't a crime to answer for and Trump will walk .....nothing surer......its a sham the whole case. Meanwhile, Sleepy Joe and Camilla the dumbo are losing support all over America for refusing to act on the Iran / Israel conflict and Joe should just retire to a Caribbean Island and sip on Pina Colada's until his number goes into the frame! FF ....Just advising the truth. -
