Seemed to have his chance 3 back the outer. was hoping for the quinella again with him. The whole field got away ok from the stand which was nice. Carter Dalgety got them all covered these days with Republican Party. 3 Group 1 wins at Auckland ( and Invercargill Cup too ) past 5 months. So he has stepped up to be the best going at the moment. Should be coming to the Interdominion with that sort of form hopefully. -
Ripples nearly got there PS but what a night for the R Dunn stable and great to see Riley win on Frazzled . I am hoping for Mo'unga wins because he steps well but a very even race between some . That trot I will eat my words if MM wins but if MIghty Logan leads it will make it tough for the backmarkers but will be cheering for Oscar and Bet n Win 😀

Really well said Tesio. You forgot to mention approx $1.7m additional funding thrown into the supporting races on slot day, as well as the millions spent on the slot itself. Plus the sickening amount of money spent hyping up the slot. Imagine if some of that funding and promotion was spent on Cup Week. -

I am waiting with interest to see if NZTR show any consistency with regard to horses missing racing opportunities. When three northern horses missed out on a start at Awapuni and didn't want to hang around for another couple of days to race on similar track conditions NZTR took it upon themselves to boost a race at Te Rapa by $20,000. This weekend we have 17 Southland horses in at Riccarton who accepted expecting to race on a heavy turf track. Now that meeting has been changed to a totally different surface many of those Southland horses will probably scratch. Normally this would be just bad luck, but surely a precedent has been set with the Te Rapa decision. The northern horses didn't want to wait two days and the race concerned still went ahead for its original $80,000 stake. The northerners were relatively low grade horses, a top weight of 84 for this Saturday's race I think. The Southland horses are much higher grade, including a last start Canterbury Gold Cup winner. There is a two day meeting in Southland this coming weekend including a couple of open races. Surely the decent thing would be to increase the stake for the 1,600m next Friday by $20,000. Some of the other races could be boosted as well. Poor bloody Southland 2yos. One race all season locally for them so they travel all the way to Riccarton and strike this. Perhaps add a 2yo race next weekend as well. It will be interesting to see what NZTR do. We certainly know what they would do if it was a northern meeting. -

In the fall of 2019, the New York Times reported that the 2018 Triple Crown winner had a positive test for scopolamine after the Santa Anita Derby in April 2018. Scopolamine is used to treat gastrointestinal illness in humans and is thought by some experts to behave as a bronchodilator. It’s naturally found in jimson weed, and has been believed to contaminate hay, sometimes resulting in a positive test. According to the Times, trainer Bob Baffert was informed of the positive test prior to Justify’s trip to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby, and exercised his right to a split sample test at that time. In August, the California Horse Racing Board – which did not issue a complaint or schedule a public hearing – voted unanimously and privately in executive session not to proceed with the case. Since then the rules have been changed - If the connections of a horse have been notified by a regulatory body about a medication violation from participation in a Road to the Kentucky Derby or Road to the Kentucky Oaks race, and that violation would result in disqualification, any accrued points from the race will be revoked until the matter reaches a legal conclusion
