ivanthegreat 1,123 Report post Posted November 19, 2022 Well done EMMA STEWART who trained 5 winners of the ten races. Stakes for the total card were A$1.5 M. Pure Steel, JJ Flash and Thejanitor
YouNeverGiveMeYourMoney 28 Report post Posted November 21, 2022 It was actually 6 to Emma. What about Brad Williamson on 2yo filly Aroha Kenny 1. He knocks a deserving Gp1 contestant out at the start 2. He destroys his own chances and those of the favourite by attacking for the lead for a ridiculous distance (equalling the fastest open age Lead Time for trotters) 3. He went inside 4 marker pegs on the final bend He must have thought he was driving Rules Dont Apply JJ Flash, Pure Steel and Thejanitor 1 1
Pure Steel 1,303 Report post Posted November 21, 2022 1 hour ago, YouNeverGiveMeYourMoney said: What about Brad Williamson on 2yo filly Aroha Kenny That was a WILD ride ! and whatta eye opener for sure . horse he took on still got 2nd ! game run. Bet Brad would like that race run again differently lol. Good news is Michelle Wallis and Bernie Hackett got a 3rd in the 3-yold trotting Fillies Breeders Crown Final with 'Aldebaran Keepa' and great kiwi driver Anthony Butt (who only had 2 drives shockingly on the night) had a Win in the 3-yearold boys with ex-pat kiwi 'Harry Stamper' for Joe Pace, and a 2nd with a David Aiken trotter. Not sure why the Champ doesn't get more drives . Ants always gives them a show. JJ Flash
YouNeverGiveMeYourMoney 28 Report post Posted November 21, 2022 Agreed PS, we all know that Ants is a great driver but without a stable affiliation it is hard to get a good book of drives, especially at Melton. He is not on the Stewart stable list - Chris Alford hardly is nowadays despite winning the most Gp1's for them (but he is still number one for the smaller Lilley stable). You have big stables like Tubbs/Sugars, Manning, Douglas that have their own drivers and the same is true for many medium sized stables. Kids contemplating a career in harness driving should realize it is probably less likely than becoming a pro-golfer, at least they are not dependent on someone else supporting them. We're Doomed 4,878 Report post Posted November 24, 2022 It's an impressive track Melton. Only 1,040m around but seems much bigger. Obviously very well designed.
