Australian dogs on a Monday and Wednesday night are my best.

    Taking Roving Banker Trifectas.

Taking one dog for first and second, with the field for third.

    $5 returns 26% usually

The dog I anchor for 2nd is usually the favourite, or the one I think has the best chance of winning, as on 2 of the 3 tickets it needs to win

    Dusty,

From a punters perspective that's a good thing.

From a handlers, not so much

But at Manawatu you need a minimum of 20 minutes between races to get all the dogs out in time, if you have a dogs in consecutive races.

By the time you get off the dais, its time to run back to get the next one, plus you have to hose down, and put away your dog from the previous race. And lord help you if you have strapping to do + wanting a stir up.

The under card looks good as well Reilly.
    Feature races advertised C1-C4 527m.
    C2 779m
    consolations as well.

Better save some pennies to have a little nudge throughout the night.

Dog was given 7 days by the vet after the race at Cambridge. Trainer determined the next day the injury was far more serious and withdrew from the Railway semi-finals. Dog is "probably" retired or won't be seen on a race track for months. (so 28 day stand down is least of his worries)
    Does that help clarify???

Next big thing.. Bernie was very patient and has done an amazing job. Well done Bernie.
    This dog will go places.
I do hope he gets beaten a couple of times before he reaches C5. Dogs that go straight  through the grades usually struggle when they get C5.
Magic bolt. Dog to follow in the near future!

It's happened with other trainers as well where they have left without doing vet checks. Sometimes it's accidental, forgetting about it and sometimes it's not.

    Unsure about this case.

Merv, you obviously have something against then personally as I only ever read negativity from you towards them.

I think the dog should have been presented to another vet within 48hrs of race time and contact should have been made to the kennels to specify this otherwise they would impose a 28 day stand down.

I don't know what will happen from here but I guess we can only wait and see.

I think ritza jack @$31.00 is value. He was a extremely good before his injury and if he has come back even only 90% he will be a top contender

Gives me shivers up my spine to think he is coming back into the game. Handing out licenses in weet-bix packets again are they? Why should he even be considered when nzgra banned him for 10 years (7 according to houndfan). 10 years is too long of a sentence in my opinion to make you even eligible for consideration.

Not until after dog had been hosed some one realized.

Im only guessing that the semis of both finals are the earliest races to either a) allow travelling trainers a chance to get away at a reasonable hour. allow time for swabs to be conducted on the first two past the post who will be in the finals. Not so great for punters, but viable for L.Ps and the club for efficiency.

On the race replay on the dogs website - 30th September, go to 10:35 (minutes on youtube clip) and you can clearly see the starter talking on his cellphone during the head on.

    Christchurch 3rd October:
Judicial report: Licenced Handler Mr M Lin was fined the sum of $50 for failing to ensure his cellular device was switched off when handling pre race.

This sounds like the device went off making a sound, yet he wouldn't have realised.

If the Manawatu starters phone went off, he blatantly continued use of it.

Gary, yes the shotput champ has somewhat thrown the rock on the railroads, but guess what, its quite often what you do on others thread. See, its annoying. So maybe it make you less likely to do it in the future.

    and also,
well done to rosemary and the team, a great achievement

mmmyb got a reaction from whataguy in Waterloo Cup Coverage On Trackside
Bill took Speed Legend to Auckland before the Wanganui Heat, unfortunately Speed Legend did not make the final.
I always think its a good idea to give the dogs a look at the track before the finals, but its up to the trainers to make that call.
I think it is a great idea to have the heats at different tracks, meaning the best from each region can make it into the final (or the lucky ones in the heats)
I wouldn't want it for any of the bigger Group 1's, but for the minimum Group 1, great idea.
Would be like each region having heats at their tracks for a final between them - eg (Auckland & Waikato - Final at Either - Manawatu and Wanganui, and Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill)

As for coverage, I thought it was good.
