It is also hard from a trainers perspective, you may have a horse that is suited to a genuine 7-8, the track is rated 7-8 you race and the track is clearly not close to the rating, is this a case of tell the owners and trainers what they want to hear on race morning to get the numbers racing???? not only is it unfair to the punters but also the trainers, owners and most importantly the horses......it is a gamble as to what the track is going to be on raceday, personally find it hard to trust the penetrometer reading.

I think that O P thought that the pace was going to quicken and when it didnt he got a fright, because shez such an honest horse she tried and flew home, I love Veyron but I also think that Shes Sinsational should have won that race hands down, dont think that O P did her any favours. Well done Veyron, because I think that saying that he is JUST a miler is a bit low, he is a very talented horse and the best horse won on the day, thats racing - all the ifs and buts in the world cant take it off him and the connections, you take every win and we all work hard to get our horses to the races, just goes to show once those gates open you dont know what will happen.

I Think that she is very colourful, she obviously has a very good team behind her aswell... she seems to add a different twist to race day when they interview her on tv, I like the fact that she still really gets a kick out of a win after all these years. Some trainers expect their horses to win and seem to miss that feeling that you get when you win....

Hell this feed is brilliant, I use easi-performance, easi-ride, old timers and easi-result, have done for 4 months and I absolutly love this feed, the reps are really helpful too, I get regular visits from them and they really know their stuff!!!! it has to do with trial form too - a horse that has trialled generally gets in first.

The thing that annoys me is that we(trainers) have to have horses nominated and riders declared within such tight time-frames... we get hammered money wise when we need to scratch for genuine reasons or get mucked around by riders. I once had a rider declared and listed on the NZTR website in the field, the rider then rang me and said that she was not aware that another horse was nominated so had to get off my horse - looked on the net and she had NEVER ridden this other horse before. Admittedly my horse had no form but was only her 3rd start (everyone starts somewhere) I rang conference and they said "do you really want someone on your horse that doesnt want to ride it" I suppose they are right but thats beside the point, the rider was commited to my horse and us trainers (and owners) are forced to make a decision fairly smartly and we pay good money to race horses, I think its time to cut us some slack, how many professions do the people being paid to do a job get a % of the earnings without having to out-lay any money???

What is the general rules over winter around the country for the use of grass tracks for galloping and education of young horses with starting gates etc.... I understand that its wet and hard on tracks but how does it work at your training track??

All I can say is that I bred the same mare to the same stallion 4 times and they all came out different colours, markings, abilities and temperaments, sometimes it is what it is - I agree with you, I think that you should breed with mares that have strength and intelligence vs hard to handle and negative......
