bump with all those NZ breds doing well in the States
  11. Drove two winners there today, one hot favourite , and one $12 shot. Also got a 3rd with a well supported runner
  12. Nice to see Tintin In America serve around twice the number of mares this season. Saw Zee Dana break the track record for 2400m at Menangle in a Derby Heat.
  13. i catch the live racing online at the Meadowlands on Sunday afternoons, (12.35pm to 4.30pm) you will generally catch a couple of ex-kiwi bred horses racing. I don't bet on them but watch them for the joy of it (do pick a horse to follow each race). When they had betting ,(albeit around five to six races from the meeting) I would have a punt. Other than that you may have caught my posts about ex-kiwi horses racing well or the Tattersills Sales where they sell stallion shares along with a mixed sale.

    Sale Time

I went to the Chch Sale on the first day and it was good to see the Vendors and preparers put up strong looking yearlings all round.
  15. Seems to like the coast circuit, hope you got some today. Also see Culley Backy and Donegal Carnbouy go well too
  16. By the way Smoken Up won 2 races as a 4yo in NZ . Both were Harness Plus races, so got two bonuses ($7500 each as I recall) a scheme that I think served a better purpose in regards to participation and spreading the money around.
  17. the conditioned heat allows any fully paid up qualifier from having a chance to run in the series. I would think this is to attract owners to nominate and fully pay up when said horses are yearlings. I think that some owners are now looking at their expenses and nomination fees for are something that he can start looking at in regards of not persevering with. Also with less breeding numbers the less numbers that will pay/nominate. How are the Sires Stakes / Fillies series able to have good money for the finals if they don't attract participation. I had a fully paid up filly years ago, but never qualified due to injury - in the end a waste of money. But having said that , if she had recovered and qualified just prior to the series starting , she would not had a look in at starting unless she had won 2 to 3 races back then. At least with the conditioned heats, this allows maidens to have a chance for the stake money.
  18. no $3000 was what the share went for. Don't know what they sold for at the beginning. Did note that Well Said was fresh semen in the States and frozen here. Just making the point that syndicating our colonial stallions would give them a better chance. Well Said is a good example for American investors.
  19. looks as though it has suffered the same fate as the Forbury 4yo Champs race held around the same time many years ago. Guess all the leading 4yo's and 5yo's are aimed at Aussie . But shouldn't have HRNZ rung around knowing that numbers were down. There's a 4yo leader board for the jewels , they could have started there.
  20. just of note both shares of Well Said went for US$14k. Sunshine Beach US$3k Having note of this you would get value out of Well Said over 3 years, Sunshine Beach , two years. By putting your mare each year to your stallion you have shares in , the numbers game would help the stallion move up the sires list. One stallion that has made an impact would be Shadow Play, He served a full book in America last season, and his numbers were pretty good in Australia. Looking at his first three seasons in NZ , his 4th and 5th seasons have really bucked the trend on the earlier numbers (34 14 17 80 60) as they would not have given him much of a chance . So when looking at the shares if available in a new stallion you could get it at a reasonable rate .eg Sunshine Beach and find later it would be well worth it. The US generally hold stallion shares in lots of 40, 60 or 120 (Quality of Horse would probably the reason for the size of the numbers of shares as well as money won on track).

    Driving Fee

How much of that driving fee is paid to ACC ? Would think that HRNZ would take that out before paying the driver.

    Sale Time

Just over a month now to the Yearling Sales . Time to pick out your future star ! I'm gonna choose 3 : lot99 Fancy Woman (filly - Majestic Son/Playmate Of The Year) is my trotting pick. Think lot69 Jersey Bay (filly Mach Three/Pullover Brown) has the pedigree for success as does lot402 Rocknroll Star (Rocknroll Hanover/Star Of The Ball) from the Black Watch family. Also the mixed sale at the Meadowlands is on this coming week . This is how its its marketed. If you are in the market for a quality racehorse, Monday's January Select Mixed Sale in the paddock at the Meadowlands Racetrack will provide plenty of options. "Last week, there were over 130 horses that raced over a four-day span. As of this morning, there are over 80 horses in to go this weekend," sale general manager David Reid said Thursday morning. "It's probably the most activity from a racehorse point of view that we've had in the last number of years that I can remember." Statesman is up for sale as is a relative to Tupelo Rose amongst an amazing array of racehorses.
  24. The Meadowlands is run as a commercial entity in the United States which has been bought back from the brink .However this should not be something to follow as 2 tracks in in the Chicargo and Milwalkie area are set to close leaving one track in that area of the state.
  25. Stipes report says the horse outside Zenmach shifted inwards and made contact with him causing the break, Driver of Macardo (A Armour) recieved a $375 fine
