  1. Tina, She personifies the old adage ,"You dont have to be bid to be good" I have given your pride and joy a pat or three. Let us know when the roller coaster ride is over please.
  2. Oh yes Freda. Just a gentle wind up on a dull jaffa day
  3. John I think you will get a piece of it. Our bloke shaping up like a miler or further. Possibly a late developer. Go GS
  4. There are no mad paddys there this year so they may try and walk it. In that case a grinding stayer like Viewed wont win. So i will go for the horse with the big finish. Efficient
  5. Yes he came around the home bend like a motorbike. I watched a lot of races Saturday and its the only one I kept in my head
  6. A few Northern horses and jocks went down to the city of the Red and Black and helped themselves to the goodies. You need to get up to speed down there. Doncha?
  7. You havent got this on your own. We got bombed in Rotorua 3/4 hr before the start of the Plate and track went from 5 to an 8. The other weekend. Now we have got a bloke (dam is your namesake) who cant place with having had six wide draws and hates wet tracks too. Hes in for Avo on Wed, copped 10 and its going to rain. Im thinking its karma and one of the owners has done something really bad. I know its not me!
  8. Daryl the thing is the MV track favours a horse that can go hard all the way. Think Might and Power, Solvit, Sunline. But then a pattern emerges whereby the jocks try to ride features tactically from behind the pace with unsuitable horses. Olly would have been where he was in the race because he didnt believe he could last 2040m on the pace. The time on the race was a tick under 2.04 the same as PC's Kelt as opposed to Mal and VR 2.08 races, so it was a genuine time this year in the Cox. Essentially Boss just took the race off the others who were but spectators.
  9. Chris dont "you" buy the hype again. You must have seen that the Sidders Shuffle/sprint had corrupted Vic racing and your winners were only good horses in very restricted racing distances. Bart and Bossies good horse went and ran a proper race and exposed the timid and the bludgers behind. Integrity in the great race was restored and past champions were honored.
  10. Dam is Triassic (black type)(1990) by Tights (1981) out of Astral Row (1979) SYT is 7th foal (five live) What was that about the third foal?
  11. I think too. It wont be a walk/sprint this year with big Mal gone
  12. Our good mare was the 9th and clearly the best of her dams issue
  13. OD, There is such a thing as the ANZ Rating Classification which at the end of each season rates the topliners as per distance categories, age groups and sexes. This is a significant criteria for entry into premier races in Aus. Although it is set by the Chief Handicappers of each country, it seems to not be taken note of here and we end up with a dopy hodge podge of rules. If we want to internationalize our racing the criteria should be (1) Exemptions for "signalled" race wins (2) International Ratings (3) ANZ Classification NZTR put up the classification only for a fleeting time on their site. Contact them for a copy.
  14. What say you drop out the Mutt race for the simple reason that all the entrants will select the winner and cancel themselves out.
  15. The only thing you can be reasonably sure of is that a couple of Ozjocks (the best in the world)will take off from the start. Before the first bend 3 or 4 swoopers will shoot forward to take up the space behind the leaders then once around that they will haul their steeds in and jam the horses behind them back into the pack. from this point there will be knocking and bumping. From the 800 there will be tiring retreatals and cynical improvers. A lot of this due to the Aus finests concern for their mounts staying abilities. Clairvoyancy may provide a winner here otherwise your chance are the same as a chook raffle at the viaduct. The CC is the biggest chook raffle of all. Go the Kiwis
  16. But Muzza dont you see that we had a relatively pure pond here. Work had gone in to keep it that way so that a modicum of sweetness and light prevailed. Now you go and toss in two turds which will get stirred up and they will change the specific gravity for the duration. Not doubting your good intention but for form its just "Broke" and we purists dont find that at all "Thrilling"
  17. I will have "Broke Again" in the Trots race "Thrilling Dick" in the Puppies
  18. May I add. That almost all issues in racing affect the owner. The various owners associations report to the national federation NZTROF who have representation on NZTR. NZTROF with assistance of NZTR are building a database of owners and will be shortly re-energising communication and initiatives. On a local level, owners who have racings interest at heart can make a contribution. A good channel is General Business at an AGM. So owners/members come to our meeting and have your say. Cheers NM
  19. Murray, No mutts or wobbles on here, sorry its a faux pas imo
  20. SUNDAY 18th OCTOBER 2.30 PM TAKANINI ROOM ELLERSLIE. All members and INTERESTED parties are welcome. The meeting will be followed by an address by Bill Gionotti President of ARC and director NZTR See you there at the Cuppa Tea afterward. Neil Miller (Committee) We realise this is on the same day as Counties AGM and luncheon. Why not do both? I will. Thank you Race Cafe for the (anticipated) courtesy. NM
