  1. You would've thought so regarding HOTY. But would it change things if Probabeel, Madison County or Danzdanzdance went out and won something in Sydney?
  2. How bloody good????? Truly one of a kind!
  3. not entirely sure she could stay the trip, hence the good run first up over 2000m over there
  4. ahhhh of course, mind you she went alright in Brisbane. Without going super, she ran 2nd in the Rough Habit I think it was
  5. I don't disagree at all that money spent on track is nothing but good for our industry but I still think it's not a bad investment from the club. I know it's not a superb surface, but Ellerslie's track isn't really too bad is it? In comparison to the rest of the country especially!!!
  6. isn't it just the old tote building that has been converted???
  7. To be fair, they do have a limited number of stalls and that barn can be pretty dangerous when its full, lots of horses going everywhere Probably about time they got a purpose built facility.
  8. Not sure this is entirely accurate......... the good 3yo filly? Rising Romance or Habibi? They both went to SYDNEY.... Habibi ran 3rd in the Vinery and 4th in the Oaks (Fractured a bone), Rising Romance ran 4th in the Vinery and won the Oaks..... Last horse they took to Brisbane was a 3YO Gelding - Comin'through, he finished 5th in the Derby and 4th in his lead up.... VSB went over as a 3YO and won the Rosehill guineas and finished 3rd in the derby, then Valley Girl went over as a 3YO and finished 2nd in the Vinery and 6th in the oaks. Not sure where your opinion has come from, I think its one of the better strike rates of kiwi trainers in Aus lately
  9. I don't know, I know for a fact that there have been an increase in complaints about the stabling area lately. Things like not enough tie ups and the barn gets extremely muggy on hot days, which means they have to open the roller doors (not very practical). I think the new stalls are a good idea as it may make it better for owners and the public to get access to the horses pre and post race.
  10. I Agree! I find it really interesting that Bonneval is only a rating 100, especially in comparison to Jon Snow (104) Especially now that Underthemoonlight is now on 101
  11. Exactly! I read an article a while back, in Melbourne they were bringing back an 1800m 2yo race, worth 100k for late 2yo's They said it was to aid those 2yo's heading for the early VRC derby (2500m), as we all know, its a big trip for early 3yo's and they also said it was to give owners like yourself who have horses who need ground etc. a chance to race for 100k at 2 and try and get some kind of return on their investment before having to wait 4 years for them to debut. Whereas here, its hard enough to find staying races to suit 3yo's outside of the usual guineas races.
  12. Irrelevant of who I support Just because he was well placed doesn't automatically make him beat Consensus and Thee Auld Floozie, he did that himself. He wasn't a superstar but he was far better than an average over-hyped and over-rated horse
  13. 13 starts, 6 wins, didn't weigh in only twice! Beat subsequent stakes performer Bloodstream in his maiden win Beat stakes performer Aurora Lights in his second win, running the 1600m in 1:34.46 Beat subsequent stakes performer El Pescado in his third win Won the G2 Rich Hill mile at his 6th start, beating subsequent Group 1 winners - Consensus and Thee Auld Floozie and G1 performer Rasa Lila Went on to be stakes placed in Australia behind G1 performer Allergic Then he was G1 placed himself behind Willie Cazals (2nd in G1 Hong Kong Vase) and Humidor (1st G1 Australian Cup) Shall I go on???? or is that enough for me to prove the point that he was far from "over-rated and over-hyped"
  14. What relevance does this have?
