Yesterday at Caulfield we saw a fantastic win by Alabama Express and we will probably see a lot more from him. Paul Moroney bought him for A$280k at the Easter Sale in 2018 for brother Mike to train.

Alabama's Express' dam Lago Ovation is an unplaced  mare by Encosta de Lago  from a good imported family. Several members of the family have worked very well with Redoute's Choice so it is not surprising Paul had a hard look at the colt at the sales.

Rekindled Outlook is a half sister by Flying Spur --similarly unplaced when racing, was sent to NZ to support Ferlax when he was standing at Haunui. The 2 colts by Ferlax from the mare sold in Book 3 for $3K and $2.5K.  The Novara Park guys now own the mare (probably bought very cheaply) and have bred her to Sweynesse, so they now have possibly got a Book 1 mare.

Breeder not sure I can agree with you...for the mare to be possibly in Book 1. In the old days anyway Book 1 were well related, usually a good winner and/or usually a proven producer although there are some pretty light ones in there this year  (which would normally have fell into Book 2). You need to stand on your own in Book 1 she'd make Book 2  if her stock are appealing.  She herself only raced twice at Echuca, has produced nothing on the track yet although has some coming through but I see your point, a good horse can come from anywhere.  Redoute's currently No.1 in the Aussie broodmare stats with Flying Spur 3rd - good luck to them hope they do well :)

Any performance by the ferlax colts would advance the mare considerably especially if she goes to a commercial stallion.

Some top stallions in the dam line so could easily make book one soon.
